Not many people on here will know this but when Bernardo signed for us, the meltdown from some posters on Red Cafe was so bad that the site owners somewhat amusingly sent a PM to every member of the forum basically asking the flappers to calm the fuck down! It went along the lines of "We can understand people are disappointed but try not to get too despondent as we still have a full summer ahead and United might make some exciting signings too". I can't remember the exact wording of the message but being a member I was lucky enough to get a PM!
Haha might check my account for one after Haaland was announced

Where does this 'double wage' thing come from? I know it's bullshit, but it's not the first time I've heard Rags and Dippers going on about it. Must have started somewhere.
It started with the offshore rights deals. Rivals started saying we were paying players twice. The deals were repatriated when the revenue declared such deals not legal from a tax pov.
We were not the only club to do this.

Yeah that's the bit that gets me. Assuming City are dodgy, why would we be the only club to do it? United are literally run by accountants, surely they'd have a trick or two they wouldn't mind playing?

I doubt there's a release clause but even if there is, he won't want to leave.
This is what alot of people miss...the player has to want to move as well....merely activating the clause doesnt mean the player has to be sold/move.

If there were a clause, and he wants to move...then fair enough, we get a stack of money and an unhappy player gets to move. We have never stood in the way of a player moving on, if they so wish.

if anything, having a release clause is a good thing for the club.

It makes sense as he did exactly the same with BVB.

Keeps him in control and City would not argue as they got him for a steal.
