Today's shooting in America thread

...........and I'm sure you're a very safe and considerate driver, but I don't want to be on the road when 'you' when you decide to use your phone, send a text, overtake, speed, drink/drive, run an amber or whatever people do when they cause accidents. Better to ban cars, because that would solve the problem.
Ridiculous analogy. All the above are, wait for it...., illegal.

I think in some instances, it’s an argument that isn’t without complete merit. The normalisation of killing people en masse, even in the setting of a video game, must have a tendency to effect the disposition of some people with pre-existing mental health issues towards going on a killing spree. Perfectly stands to reason. The fact those two cunts have dishonestly deployed it as the principal cause, when the US’s gun laws and culture manifestly are, doesn’t mean that isn’t a contributory factor in some instances, as much as drink and drugs might be in certain cases.

I fail to see how it can be dismissed out of hand, when fantasy and reality are so closely related. Some people live out their fantasies. Sometimes with little or no regard for the consequences to others, or the cost to human life.

That doesn’t mean I think they should be banned btw. The overall impact is negligible, especially in this country, but to suggest it plays absolutely no role I believe would be wrong.
Advertising influences impressionable minds, so it must also be the case with exciting/violent video games and pornography.
Some people have difficulty separating fantasy from reality.
I remember as a teenager being somewhat influenced by Bruce Lee
with his martial arts skills, of which I knew nothing at that time.

I get how it works, but the whole argument against abolishing 2A (or at least proffering another amendment to the Constitution) appears to boil down to it being TFD which is a really shit excuse for essentially doing nothing.
Sometimes reality sucks!

I assume you believe efforts have never occurred, but you would be wrong!

More than 1,400 Second Amendment challenges have been decided since District of Columbia v. Heller, the landmark 2008 case in which the Supreme Court established an individual right to keep a handgun at home (but also emphasized that the right is subject to various forms of regulation).

That’s 100 PER YEAR!!!

Then, and in Chicago vs MacDonald a few years later, the decisions were 5-4. Today, they would probably be at least 6-3. Elections matter!

You guys are like moths to a flame!

It is so precious to watch a small handful of supposedly intelligent educated men twist yourselves in knots trying to change a foundational settled law of a country you don’t live in, or refuse to live in!

I’m not sure which part of “nobody gives a fuck about your tortured arguments” (even the ones I might agree with!) you guys don’t understand, but your exercise of perceived moral superiority is an excellent sideshow to the main event!

Keep going! I’m sure it’ll make a big difference to everyone in America.

Oh well, you keep your guns then in the US, we'll just have kids here instead that don't have to train how to deal with active shooters in school. Grim culture. If you're happy with randoms being shot every day, crack on.

Excuses for not tackling the wider issues surrounding gun ownership. The guy who just killed all those people in Buffalo had a LEGALLY owned assault style weapon. Not one single civilian has a legitimate reason for owning one of those weapons aside from simply wanting to own one.
Says you, but you don’t get to decide!

It is a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT, codified in law.

This is the reality of which I speak, and you reject.

Again, and slower for the Short Bus crowd…

I’m not saying I AGREE with it, I’m saying I live in the real world where the law allows it.

Step out of your prejudice for a scant second, look at the reality of 2A, Heller, MacDonald, the make-up of SCOTUS, Congress and the Governors of the 50 states, WTFU, then go back to your prejudices with a little education.

If you refuse to learn the reasons something is the way it is, I can’t help you!

And, while you’re at it, you might not want to brag too much about kid culture in England today. Just had family over from Manc and some of the stories were dire…and they were pleasantly surprised by the attitudes and behaviors of the kids they ran into over here.

Wow, 'short bus crowd'
A short bus is U.S. slang for a smaller school bus usually used for transporting disabled students.

That's one fkn shit post....

You go with that if it suits your narrative.
Ironic.

Hint: Instead of running straight to Wikipedia, try the Urban Dictionary!

I already knew what it meant. So do you.
Sick post. No place for disabled or mentally challenged (special school bus) - urban dictionary ... Being used as derogatory language.
