Political relations between UK-EU

How superb it is to be out of the clutches of the EU. I just went to McDonald’s and got a QUARTER POUNDER. It felt to patriotic not to be calling it the Eighth of a Kiloer after all these years. God bless Boris.
Meat in restaurants, and milk, and beer, must be the last refuges of imperial measurements. "A 250 gramme rump steak please and a pint of wine."

In correcting the gripes of the pub bores Rees-Mogg has shown himself to lack seriousness.

It is just performative nonsense.

An oddball not in touch with reality who stands to salute the national anthem when visiting the cinema.

How many seat belts does that car have?

Good point. Don't know. 5 at maximum but doesn't look like they are fitted in the back.

But as it is a classic car, if it was manufactured and sold without them then he isn't under any obligation to fit them. Which is probably why he has it.

I don't always like "Robespierre" - maybe I usually don't feel I need the commentary - but this is a very good explanation of how ridiculous it is for the minority in NI to overrule the majority (and coincidentally feed the Tory EU haters).
Agree. One of his better explanations. I just never know who his audience is. Only place I see him is in here.

A vote loser in itself when people realise how much it is in "old money".

The winning would be in people not realising that the price of a packet of food is the same but the size of the packet has gone down by 4 ounces.

Would it be such a vote user - the vast majority of drivers will only ever have bought fuel in litres. A bit of bullshit and bluster around it would probably make the plebs think it somehow made it cheaper. They are convinced this is a vote winner

He complains about GDPR but it was subsumed into the GPA 2018 as we were leaving the EU, a purely tory act.

Corky

You are right. He either doesn’t know the history or cares to forget it. Either way it’s another pathetic Tory attempt at deflection and vote catching.
The UK had Data Protection laws for years before GDPR appeared. The principles of GDPR are pretty much the same as those that existed -lawfulness, fairness and transparency; purpose limitation; data minimisation; accuracy; storage limitation; integrity and confidentiality (security); and accountability.
GDPR was needed to cover UK companies who dealt with, and had a physical presence in Europe.
European countries are unlikely to let UK companies trade in Europe if they water down their GDPR. No mention of this yet….but no need coz England is an island with a mighty fleet of gunboats.
Adopting GDPR cost UK business a fortune.
Who wants to see a dilution in data protection?

They are desperate. Crap like this and the trot out (again) of the imperial measures bollocks is an insult to the intelligence of anybody who has a brain.

The guys a pollock and a good advert for a brain dead government.

Just get GCHQ on the case. They've got all our data anyway.

Im getting f@cking tired of people like Hartley Brewer ..... she's been provided with the correct answer .. but she'll be back on the radio again next week spouting the same crap.

what people? There are massive numbers of vacancies. There are no people to hire.......

In 2010 they were all about making changes to allow people to be hired and fired quicker, not sure how it has changed with leaving the EU?

People being stuck at airports shouldn't be a national priority, most people don't need to travel on a plane.

whatever the plan whatever the Brexit freedom he thinks is being identified shows up the Brexit folly. We are short of people to do the work. One of the main reasons is Brexit. In the pandemic people from the EU went "home" for various understandable reasons and then we enacted a law which prevented their return to do the lower paid work that is there to be done. We have tried to keep refugee's out - they want to send them to Rwanda - when many of those refugee's could be deployed to the benefit of the nation to do some of the jobs that need filling - history will look back on the period 2019 to 2223 as totally weird

I think it might be a lot longer than a 4 year period of weird, sadly.
