I would have taken him at City - a good addition and possibly the ultimate signing for piss-boiling - unless we sign VVD or Saleh!
Funny - on 5 Live this week, they were talking as if Liverpool were stronger for the signing of Darwen Nunez, but, there's no way he can be as lethal as Mane has been for the last 5 or 6 seasons. Maybe one day he'll be as good as Mane was, but I'd doubt that'll be in his first season, at least.

Losing one of their best players for £27.5m (+£7.5m in add ons), that is rough.

I know he was in the last year of his contract but they're going to pay more than double that for Nunez!

That’s… not that impressive. Hope the days of them getting £25m+ for shit like Solanke, Brewster etc are long gone. That Coutinho deal still winds me up. Let’s see how well their net spend is when teams pay fair market price.

The narrative is they got back what they spent on him plus six years service.
Whilst technically true the small matter of football inflation has wafted by overhead without a glance.
Not that thieves know what inflation is.

You have to judge it based on the replacement too.

Nunez in, Mane out is a significant downgrade.

Haaland, Alvarez in, nobody out as it stands is a significant upgrade.

Mane was their most in form attacking player during the run in. Horrible type of player who got away with a few red card offences a game: but is a clinical finisher and a hard working player.
edited for you ;-)

A big miss for them though and i'm happy he's left.

Let's see how this is framed so...

£85m for Nunez? No, £65m actually...

So by that logic it's not £35m for Mane, it's £27m...
