It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

ah, fair! meant the extention-talks :)
Well my guess is the new owners coming in made them up the asking price a bit.

Even then, I can't see Milan sell there best player after winning Serie A and getting new owners with very deep pockets.

the "haaland is a replacement for sergio" crowd need to realize we bought grealish to accommodate the false 9, we have too many wingers and no striker, because one had to play striker. now that we have a striker, it makes sense that a winger will go. don't be silly, haaland is a replacement for, well, torres.

De-lu-ded.

Even on an off day Sterling is far, far better than Palmer, plus his reputation means he keeps defences worried, as he can still create or score when having a poor game.

Agree we need attacking pace, which is one of Sterling’s key attributes. If Sterling insists on leaving he absolutely must be replaced.
Depends on how we plan to play though, for a start it isn’t that many teams we play against where pace is needed. Secondly Haaland Foden and KDB are pretty quick for teams we can break against. Don’t know about Alvarez. Then if we play overlapping full backs there is a bit of speed there too.

He isn’t though, and he’s young enough under the right coach to be improved and even sold on. I’d say around £60 mill is about right for him. The only reason Neymar is anywhere near the same is down to his age.
yeah my unpopular united opinion is that sancho is a very good player and no one can succeed at that horrible place

Tbf I get the logic

Sterling is younger but Mane was on smaller wages and arguably has been better in recent form

Think £35mil is too low, but £60mil is too high with his wages

Something around £45/50mil probably is fair if the club know Sterling isn't going to renew (which we probably know if we are entertaining bids from a divisional rival)

People who think Palmer is anywhere near Sterling's level are in for a nasty shock.

No disrepect to Palmer, I like him. Will be a tidy player for us if he stays.

Sterling is one the best and most prolific players we've ever had. Adds a dynamic to our attack that we need to keep. If he leaves, another pace-burning winger who can go high and wide must be brought in, for me. Letting Jesus, Sane, and Sterling go with no true replacement would be genuine mismanagement in my opinion.
