Makes sense to sell him.

Makes no sense not to buy a replacement.

Always the same. Sell some players without replacement. They will never learn. Not a proactive business and instead of depth, our board is creating problems. The same with Aguero and Kompany in 2019.
Sorry, but cannot agree with your sentiment. We are arguably the best run club in world football.

We have learnt, in that we don't buy for the sake of it, we go for the player we want, even if that means waiting a while.

And we have won how many trophies since 2019.
Quite proactive, I think

So supposedly Chelsea have offered £21 mil. If Sterling is on let's say £300,000 a week that covers his wages for his final year and he goes.
If he stays we pay £15 mil and he goes for free.
So 21 mil profit or £15 mil we pay and then get nothing.

We get one full season of Sterling, so not 'nothing'.

Oh dear. 4 PL titles in 5 years is a rather nice problem they created.

Some of these newish posters (probably newish fans too) don’t know how good we have it. Constant negativity from them. This cycle of success will eventually come to an end. This place will be unbearable then.

I will miss him if he goes. What a contribution he has made.
Raheem Sterling breaks into City's top 10 goalscorers of all-time

I fully trust our club will do whatever is best for our club.
If he goes he goes.
Your eyes dont lie he has been off it for the best part of a year. However there is still the odd flash of brilliance.Personally i would sell him but not for a penny less than £50 million.

Sterling has been offered a new contract and that's been on the table for a while. Ahsan (billyshears) is well informed and has been saying this for a while. The problem is he (Sterling) doesn't seem to want whatever's on offer, for whatever reason. It's nothing to do with what we've done or not done.

I'm not convinced he really wants to be here longer term and his form has dropped off a cliff. He still gets goals and assists but even his biggest fans can't deny he's not the incredible talent has was a couple of years ago. He needs to find his spark again.

Let's face it, when the team is announced and he isn't in the starting XI, how many still think "No Sterling? WTF is Pep thinking?"

I'd take £45m plus maybe £5m add-ons. He owes us nothing and it gives us a very tidy profit.

An improved offer has been on the table for 18 months, just as it was with Sane.

As with Leroy, he asked for time, he asked for more starts, he asked for more money.

City were happy to take the player at his word, as they also did with Milner.

Raheem then put things on ice last summer and got rid of his agent Aidy Ward.

It's hasn't passed the smell test for City for a while and there is an acceptance that Raheem probably just fancies a change of scene after seven years and was trying to maximise his last big move as a free agent.

Chelsea's interest, however, has emerged as a convenient option for both Raheem and City, which could yet smoke out others.

But Chelsea is pretty much a perfect move which ticks a lot of boxes and the simple truth is Pep is not exactly indifferent to him leaving, but sees the sense in it for everyone.

It would be excellent business for City and Raheem.

You act as if we haven't won the league since then. Also, those were completely different scenarios to sterling. You're right, we should have replaced kompany and aguero at the times as their positions were shallow at the time.

Sterling is leaving a position we are stacked in. Foden played false 9 most of last season so bringing in haaland means we have almost 1 more player. We have grealish, foden, Mahrez, Alvarez, and Palmer in wing positions.

If you want to throw a tantrum, look at midfield/the 8s where, if Bernardo leaves, we have two injury prone players the wrong side of 30. With Phillips coming in we could maybe play a 4231 some games, but we still need someone else there. Much higher priority than a winger.

In a way both City and him need to move on. He has been professional but something in the past season or two seemed a bit off. I think his main gripe is that Pep isn't using him consistently and in the best way that suits his game. At this point I think we can definitely do better than him, I don't see him signing a contract till midseason atleast and thats a precarious position for us. I am never confident when Sterling has to finish a chance (and so are many others). His positioning is what will be missed though. A bit of contrast in attitudes when you see him and Bernardo play as well (even though both seem to want to leave).
That said, if its Chelsea, we better be rinsing them.
Totally fine with the no replacement thing. We have Haaland, Alvarez and Palmer coming in for our attacking options. We will have Grealish step up as well. These rumours definitely point that we have a lot of faith in Alvarez than initially thought of. I can see him getting minutes akin Torres.

‘they never learn’ would have thought it was ‘we never learn’. Anyway, 4 league titles in 5 years suggest you know nothing and our management know exactly what they’re doing.
For depth? For more options? For being capable to win more? To rest crucial players? To avoid injuries with more options?

What would we except minimum? 35m+addons? Or is it 50m or he stays..

Would be surprised agreeing to add-ons from a direct rival for any success which costs us ultimately, in terms of trophies.

Can see it approved at £50m.
It’s a shame really. I could be wrong, and it’s a bit of a cliche, but I think he has missed not having a striker. Now we have the best there is and it seems he is determined to leave.

If it’s just playing time he wants I think he will get plenty next season but equally I think he has had it in his mind to run his contract down for a long time and money is an issue.

If Raheem does go I guess there will be three more incomings rather than two but not necessarily a like for like replacement.

I hope City’s ducks are in a very straight line and good quality because peak Raz and Fern take some replacing.

Very true and some of them say the most ridiculous things (as per the one we are referring to) that makes me wonder why I respond. But I find them so irritating:)
