Keir Starmer

As is their right to do, same as me calling corbyn a bellend, whoch he is andalso a weak dullard who though was useful in re-igniting a lot on the lefts interest, not really the socialiat leader that was needed.

So what kind of leader is needed cos Starmer is weakened Johnson as much as the American parties are blurring of each other.

How do you want politicians to set themselves apart at the top?

Decency, truth, competence, fairness, and an end to boom and bust.
Hasn’t that already been ended? I’m doddering in my dotage, true, so I’m struggling to remember the last boom. Thought it was all bust and buster these days.

Seems that Starmer‘s probably doing something right as the attacks on him are increasing. Starting to remind me of what happened to Corbyn.

He "banned" his cabinet attending picket lines today.

So much for being a "Democratic Socialist"
Even if they’d turned up, nothing would have changed, save the rhetoric from the government.

This is going to run and run. All they have to say is that they would be looking to negotiate if they were in charge to stop the strikes.

The Tories want to create the division. Simply leaving them to do nothing and allow the strikes to continue for months will ultimately hurt them more than negotiating now.

He’s in a pickle. It’s politically difficult for him and his cabinet to be out visibly supporting the strikers, especially with a key by-election in two days, so he has to try and steer the middle course, but that’s going to be difficult going when the winds are not filling his sails. The best he can hope for is to keep a low profile and once more unions join the fray, portray it as society against the government.

Noted that Anas Sarwar was out supporting the strikers in Scotland, so another indication of how differently Labour feels it must act in either nation.

He has the get out with us. RMT are not affiliated to the Labour party. Instead they created a Railway Parliamentary group and will donate to any individual who shares the principles of our trade union. This committee has politicians from all parties on it.

The Tories are trying to frame Labour are organising the strikes. The evidence is out there to prove this isn't the case in the public domain and he should use it against them.

I’m afraid the electorate might not be sophisticated enough to discern the difference no matter how hard he tried; listen to how many have already swallowed the line that the strike is all about drivers, who, by the way, are all as rich as Croesus!

It might feel a snub to the RMT members, but I can understand his reluctance to be seen to be involved.

I know, not very democratic. Trying to cover all bases in that central ground but good to see some of his back benchers leading the unions a hand.

We've arranged a rally on Saturday and a couple of backbenchers have confirmed they'll speak.
And so they should. Although there may be restrictions on the Shadow Cabinet, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t encouraged for others on the QT.
