He implied on one of the recent Why Always Us podcasts that Pol and someone else are being brought in because he wants to do something else. Pretty sure he's just bored of it at this point.

I don’t believe for one second he’s considering going to another Premier League team. It’ll just be talk designed to worry Liverpool into offering a bit more.
 
We spent the entirety of last season missing a striker to replace Aguero. Haaland fills that gap. Alvarez replaces Jesus as a versatile forward player. Palmer, we were told in January, replaced Torres in the squad. Now we're being told he's replacing Sterling as well.

If we do choose not to replace Sterling (looks likely), we'll be losing an important dimension to our attack. I'm sure Pep will tweak things, but I'd like a bit of pace.

With Mahrez's age and contract situation, there's a ready made place for Palmer to take as his successor, (the same goes for Gundo and McAtee).

I really don't believe signing a new winger this summer would harm his development, especially with 5 subs and a ridiculous schedule. Don't forget he can play in midfield too.

I wanted sterling's replacement to be raphinha. Looks like he's going to arsenal tho

He’s not scared to have his information in articles be used as soundbites either like Sam Lee is. I like Sam, more for his online presence and having time to discuss/explain things on Twitter but he does seem scared to commit to things in articles. Pol isn’t. It’s refreshing…
 
Cucurella late on next week then? Imagine being possibly done in the transfer market for the 1st July like khaldoon stated he would like? If Sterling goes as expected alongside Jesus then surely we will look to add another wide player?

Plenty of time and no rush to do so. Can test the squad while searching for alternatives
