It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

100% mate, his movement off the ball is top class the way he creates space, his finishing in one on one situations or when he has time to think is embarrassing for a player of his quality, & its never going too improve now, hope for him as a person chelsea works for him, he’s never said anything bad about us as a club, he’ll leave with my total respect for that and for the top player he’s been for us
Agree, but I wouldn’t be against him staying either. Just to see what he could do with Haaland etc.

When you think lf Sterling though, what’s the first thing that pops in your head?

Is it last minute winners against Southampton, Bournemouth etc or is it the Lyon and Burnley misses?

For me, I fluctuate between the two scenarios.

Let's get a few things straight.
On balance, most believe that City secured Phillips's signing for a very reasonable fee. Secondly, he might not be 'lightening (sic) quick' but then neither was Fernandinho, the player whose position he is most likely to fill. I'd hope you agree that Ferna's signing didn't turn out too badly. Finally, no England player covered themselves in glory against Hungary. Are you really going to judge a player on that performance and ignore what has been a very promising international career to that point?
Nothing to get straight, you've taken a post that was somewhat positive, albeit not glowing with excitement and decided to respond as if I've just said he's shit. If you go back and read various threads in here from last season I was quite vocally championing us putting in a bid for him if Leeds went down long before any links of actual interest in him surfaced. So you've picked the wrong post to "put straight"

I didn't say it wasn't reasonable did I? I said in my opinion it's probably £10-15 million over what he's worth, a premium is always expected and that's not a substantial amount today. I really don't know how you've turned a positive comment about his mobility into some kind of criticism, it's almost impressive. Am I judging a player on a solitary performance if I add a light hearted comment about the last game most of us saw him play in?

Wonder if McAtee stays next season. If sterling leaves and is not replaced, then we'll have foden, grealish, Mahrez and palmer on the wings, which means we'll only have 3 players for the 2 central midfield spots (KDB, Bernardo, gundo) and 2 for the 1 DM spot. It makes sense to give McAtee that extra central midfield spot. When we had more wing depth with sterling Jesus and Torres it made more sense to only have these 3 in midfield because foden and grealish could always go there, but now that the wing positions are more stretched there's maybe minutes centrally for McAtee.

Still can’t haven’t got over the Burnley miss, crazy I know but how could anyone miss that let alone a professional international footballer? Ditto the Lyon miss.

Yeah, but he scored the winning penalty in the cup final against the dippers off the bar.

No one expected it and it was incredible!

Ah, but yeah, that Lyon miss…

On his day almost unplayable, but them misses stick out a mile!!! & quite a few of them!! i was on the one at turf moor & it was virtually unmissable!! apart from the fact it was sterling

Mea culpa! I have been blinded by Lyon memories!
I actually watched the highlights of City v Dippers last week under Pellegrini when we won 2-1 think it was Boxing Day, Negredo got the winner.

We we're 2-1 up...Suarez played a wonderful ball into Sterling unmarked 3/4 yards out for a tap in, He fluffed it. You should have a look at it, Not quite as bad as the Lyon miss. Certainly happy he fucked up that day against us!

Hopefully it will be the same should he join Chelsea.

They are only allowed 3 non Europeans and since brexit that means UK players (I think)

It does, but @domalino has pointed out in the Sterling thread, he qualifies to play for them with his Jamaican passport without affecting their quotas, through a different set of agreements. It is an unnecessaily lengthy and cyclical discussion (and I am partly responsible) but that nook does work, it is pretty conclusive. If RM did want Sterling, that wouldn't be what stops a deal.

Wouldn't waste the money. We have three world class centre backs and one of them can play both sides of the pairing, far better than their natural side.

Ake was only bought because we thought Stonesey was going to go.

Would rather give dippers £60m for Salad.

Now that would melt the internet!!!
Rodri can play cb as well since phillips/gundo is here for DMF role.
Why aren't we after salah ?? Thats the main question.
May be we are.
Is it true liverpool are about to sell salah this window? Are those rumors true?
If so we should go after him.
