Nathan Ake

But if the worst came to the worst and 2 others were injured, he was available to play.
Here’s the deal Nathan, I know you’re 28 and want to prove yourself as a top class defender as first choice in a great team but we need you in case we get a couple of injuries to our main centre backs and we need you to fill in for the league cup and fa cup

deal …. :-/

How many minutes did Ake play in PL? 800? 900? Gomez is not a bad defender, you are overreacting and not respecting the rival. Real has had Ramos, Varane, Militao and Nacho and nobody's crying, Chelsea has had lots of defenders, Juventus has had Chiellini, Bonucci, De Light and Demiral. Bayern has had Boateng, Alaba, Sule and Hernandez. PSG has tons of defenders. We need 4 CBs. One injury and we are fu*cked, especially if it would be serious.
I’m overreacting, mmm , pot ,kettle , black ? Carry on flapping @ extremely serious, anyway I’ve a good book to read.
Ps Gomez is a bad defender.

What on earth are you going on about.

Ramos at Real? Boateng at Bayern? Have you gone back in time or something.

City had Stones, Dias, Ake and Laporte last year. Why haven't you mentioned that?

We'll sell half the squad then and just go with a squad of 11 players

My key thing here is if city play Chelsea I’d be more confident of Haaland playing against him than him playing for us vs Chelsea, plus lukaku going back should be a massive red flag for him-they’ll always see him as the academy kid.

They’ll always back themselves to stay in. Getting 2 years out of a competitive cb is a win, and keep them on their toes. A little friction isn’t the worst.

Look at Danilo and Cancelo as good examples. Keeps Walker at a high level.
This is the point, but also we didn't draw conclusions from 19/20.

1st choice offer on the table at a club he knows well. He'll go and we'll get someone else.

Ignore em mate, last season we had 4 centre halvesand still had to play Fernandinho there, as much as Stones, Dias and Laporte are pure quality they’ve all been injured in the last 18 months and Stones especially, if we flog Ake we need another centre half ,that is for certain.

Selling for effectively what we paid, with 3 years left on his deal and to a direct rival is poor.

They're getting a steal. Counts towards their HG quota as well I think.

Ake's value is lowering. He is 25m€ player according to Transfermarkt. Mainly because he is NOT PLAYING.
Transfermarkt values is 100% irrelevant and has absolutely no meaning or truth to it whatsoever. Can’t believe how people keep quoting transfermarkt values. Might as well use a valuation on fifa or some random bloke on the street. I’ve seen you waffling about Ake leaving etc, but we’ll obviously get a replacement if he leaves. The board is not stupid

Seems odd that we'd ostensibly sell Ake for less than we bought him. I don't think he's done anything to depreciate in value and he has years left on his contract. Profit on his remaining book value, but would still be an odd figure

Unless we think we’re weakening a rival by facilitating the deal. Perhaps the club isn’t big on him. I don’t rate him at all, the drop to him from the other 3 is massive.

Citys willingness to sell so many senior players to rivals is gonna bite them in the butt... making City themselves weaker in the process, like with Sterling not being replaced.

Haven’t seen a single link to a cb this window. Mbete is definitely not ready for what Ake did for City last season

Done nothing but waffled since he joined.

Other things to point out about Ake that probably influence what has changed since we signed him

in 2020 we had just come off the back of a season with Otamendi and Fernadinho as our first choice centre backs

kompany had left the previous season

when we signed him we hadn’t confirmed we had Dias wrapped up

Laporte still had question marks about his capability as our only left footed centre back after coming back from a bad knee injury

John Stones head had gone west after issues with his girlfriend and his proclivity to enjoying a few scoops and the company of other women …. Allegedly

Ake was a good signing given the circumstances THEN , those circumstances don’t exist now

get rid and move on

If the Ake money allows us to go and get Cucurella for little to no difference then that is an upgrade imo.

If Zinchenko leaves then perhaps that money is reinvested for a CB or we go with what we have. Likelihood of 3 senior CB's being injured at any one time is low and Rodri and Phillips will be the emergency options.
