It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

One problem with Gnabry that his asking wages is too high around 300k, that's the reason of why his price tag is only 40m Bayern need to ofload him as soon as possible.

We're selling the 'under level' young players to give them a chance to shine as they're not going to get game time here and so the next lot can move up...oh and the money helps too but, if we buy back any of them a big chunk of this lots sales will go on getting one back. So although the money is nice it's not necessarily the complete picture.
Agree in overall terms of cashflow that if we buy one back for big money it offsets the sale proceeds from the rest.

However I seem to recall that there is usually a link between the selling fee and buyback cost - something like 2 to 1, so if we sell someone for £10M the buy back fee is £20M. The more the buying club pays the higher the buy back fee which must encourage them to pay more.

Also it's worth remembering that if we sell someone for £10M then this counts in full against in our P&L.
if we bought someone back after 2 years for £20M on a 5 year contract then each year is amortised at £4M per year against the P&L. That means we are still "in profit" for the first 4 years as far as FFP is concerned just on that player alone and we have booked profit on all the others.

Realistically, how many will we buy back? Only one I remember is Angelino and we sold him again for a further profit. If it is one in 50 I would be very surprised, so the maths becomes 50 sold at £10M = £500M profit and if we bought one back - even for £50M - then we are still £450M to the good and we have a first team player who has gained experience and proved himself out there in the big wide football World.

Gnabry would be amazing at that price.

Thought I'd also pop another name in to discuss - Paulo Dybala is still available on a free. I personally wouldn't want him, because I don't think he'd fit in a Pep team, and his form hasn't been inspiring of late, but it would be low risk financially. What do you guys think?
I think you’ve answered your own question

Sorry no thanks Paulo.

I reckon he would go to £250,000 plus bonuses mate, he seems to know it’s gone stale at bayern? Homegrown status as well and him on the right side to replace Sterling would be epic.

That's what Sterling is currently on, isn't it ? Must be one of Bayern's top earners on that much ?

Nope, his current contract is around 115k. Bayern wants to extend his contract doubling his wages but Gnabry wants much more than that around 300k. I mean if City want to sign him he will even more bold and asking more wages demand than he asked for Bayern.

Where would Dybala fit into our team?

I would love us to sign Gnarby but it might be just out of our price range. I don't think we will replace Raz.

Just a note on all of the outgoings.

This is a reflection of the quality that the academy is now producing, not a mass clear out for financial reasons.

In previous years we have released a high number of youngsters with no fee involved.

We are now producing a much higher standard of player that although not good enough for city right now - they are of premier league or championship quality. This will be happening every other year or every year even from now on.

It’s a reflection on quality in the academy rather than a financial need.

He allegedly rejected up to 315k, so you'd imagine he'd want north of 300k for sure.

I think that right now the money is not a problem - it was before the last offer. The offer right now brings him on level with the other 2 younger wingers. Actually nobody knows right now why he does not sign. Might be that he waits on Lewy leaving to sign.

I did wonder if when Palmer and McAtee, in particular, signed their contracts that they'd been given some assurances that there would be a pathway to the first team for them here.

Like Chelsea have been doing over the past 5 or so years
