It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Dear god this is a new low :)

Ill go even further.. his (ex-) partner Tarkowski is one of the worst footballers in the PL, a big baby statue that cant move at all, slow in his head, cant turn at all, has massive legs for no use, slow as a snail, technically bad and slow on the ball that cant really pass at all or find a CM and is not really that great in the air as well considering his enormous size. The playing style of Burnley has maximised and even made him into a national team player that he wouldn't been anywhere even close to in any other side.

(edit: And now Ive just learned he was A ManU fan growing up as well..
"He is a Manchester United fan and admired David Beckham and Paul Scholes while growing up.")

Mee on the other hand sees danger can find a midfielder with a pass, has good awareness, doesn't really panics, has decent pace and turn-ability, good character, and leadership qualities, decent technique, decent left foot, decent leap for a small guy for a CB and overall a much better footballer than Tark that you would see right away in the 5 a side training.

In short, Tark has dragged down Mee and the overall Burnely style (of standing on the edge of the box, and overall long balls) hasn't shown Mees inherent qualities as well. Hes still had a good career though.

Ake is but wants more game time. Considering who is ahead of him it would be very difficult to get that amount of time. He has missed crucial games last season where we were forced to pick an aging Ferna and a half fit Laporte.
But Ake joined knowing he would start as 4th choice or certainly not a likely starter. So you find someone of similar quality who is willing to do the same at first but with the ambition to oust the other 3.
Ie if Ake leaves you find the next Ake. You dont sign someone ready to be put out to pasture, no where near good enough now, in the past or in future to push the other 3. Our strength has always been squad depth and competition.
Having Mee as 4th choice cb would be like having Carson as 2nd choice keeper, never happening.

It’s style size interpretation for most, him being smaller etc, his ability to play out is yet to be seen also, he’s more the old fashioned destroyer…. Rodri though, for me, is going to be the best the prem has seen since errrr dinho (: he also, as evidenced at points last year, is becoming one of the best readers of the game around, dispelling the myth around pace…

Phillips I’m guessing will surprise a great deal, just because he’s yet to display his entire repertoire doesn’t mean it isn't in the locker, which Pep obviously thinks it is; anyway, I’ve missed a hard tackler like this since de jong, not because we as a team has missed it but the impact of atmosphere is discounted, it raises the decibels when it gets a little flat!
Like his kung fu wipe out kick on Xabi Alonso in the WC...LMFAO...

Based on a single match against us if we sell Ake we should be looking at Salisu who turned into Vinnie for that one match last season

you need to get a grip. you've described a scenario where both someone gets injured AND a highly rated youth player is still on the bench. we've won 100 points with mangala as 4th choice.

Mangala, who cost 42m. A top rated player, who for us ended up down the ranks, but good player and not a youth or unknown.

Pretty sure by 2017/18 he was no longer "a top rated" or "good" player.

Neither is Ake by many here.

Your arguement is that we don't need a 40m '4th choice' CB (which doesn't actually exist), because we once had a 4th choice CB who cost 42m. Who put in some good performances when it mattered btw.

That's the margins we win by, and it takes those types of performances, that Ake put in last year too, to make those games count. We need a player like that, we need 4 for 2 places. It is that simple. 3 CBs would be utterly irresponsible, no matter how many imaginary alternative cover scenarios people here come up with, assuming nobody gets injured or suspended.
