Bernardo has 3 years left on his contract. If Richarlison and similar dross is going for £60m from clubs who are in the bogs financially, Bernardo is easily a £80m+ player in this market, coming from a healthy mega club who don't need to sell him.

As I said, if he actually wants a move for family reasons (not simply because he is unhappy with the weather in England), I think the club would make a move easier for him by taking a lower than expected figure.

I honestly don't see anyone offering anywhere near £80m for Bernardo. He's a brilliant player, but for some strange reason, he flies below the radar in terms of media/pundit support when compared to English midfielders like Rice, Mount, Ward-Prowse etc.

As for the Richarlison figure; he's a different kettle of fish completely. Clubs will always pay over the odds for supposedly 'proven' strikers. He'll probably be a big hit at Spurs alongside Kane and Son.

He played in 30 PL games. 13 goals and 5 assists. I'd be amazed if Palmer or Alvarez replicate that.

How many of those games did he start? I’d also say he didn’t start in a lot of the big games

Yeah I think we actually got McAtee from the United academy when they didn't rate his older brother. His dad was pissed and took both of them out.

I just hope McAtee has a future at City!

I am reminded that the great investor Warren Bouffet when asked what his faults were (said tongue in cheek) he always sold stock too early ie profited with something in it for the purchaser.
Timing is everything so perhaps an example of trusting in Pep.

Where have all the “give our Academy players a chance” posters gone?

Plenty of us have been dying to see another Foden come through. Since the Stockport Iniesta arrived we haven’t had anyone near his standard…until now.

Cole Palmer has the skills and determination to succeed and he is nerveless. I don’t doubt him for a second and Pep thinks he is ready.

Sterling is about to leave the club and there are reports that Mahrez will share time with Palmer on the right wing as his replacement.

Instead of looking forward to one of our own stepping up it seems we now want Pep to sign a new player instead!? He can’t win!

We can‘t have it both ways. I accept Palmer might be the only one (maybe McAtee) and that we will have to replace anyone else that leaves after Sterling but I want to hear from the Academy supporters on this…is this not what we have wanted for years?
