I like Starmer a lot
But ruling out going back in the EU is a no go for me
I wouldn't worry too much, he'll probably go back on this as well.

There is no way the UK is going back into the EU in this or the next Parliament, so it's moot.I like Starmer a lot

I was an ardent remainer and still think leaving was a very bad idea.
However, rejoining wouldn't work as we wouldn't go back in on the same terms we had and are probably too far down the road with going it alone to turn back now.
Why should they? We go back cap in hand they see a chance to get better terms for the EU. It's called negotiating.new Government that is Pro Eu says to the EU can we re-join on the same terms - why would they say no ?
Haha, very true.I wouldn't worry too much, he'll probably go back on this as well.

They could still be stronger but without the UK having a veto and other privililages.because it's a win/win, EU is stronger with us in it.

It's the often discussed debate about gaining power or standing by your own principles. A decision most voters will also have to make. The relationship with the EU is a huge headache for Labour. Not only has he ruled out rejoining (which I agree with) he has ruled out the single market (which I think is just bloody stupid). Once again a politician that puts supposed party tactics in front of what is best for the country. I have moved him from tactician to coward. Could be good for the Lib Dems in England though.

Its called tactics, as I am sure Johnson or who ever replaces him would love to have a rerun of 2019 GE and replay the Brexit greatest hits. This is Starmer painting the battle lines early doors to try and make sure that this is an election on cost of living. Not only has he ruled out rejoining (which I agree with) he has ruled out the single market (which I think is just bloody stupid). I can understand them taking that stance with the EU. He doesn’t at this stage need to say much about the SM. By ruling it out now he could lose votes. It's the often discussed debate about gaining power or standing by your own principles. A decision most voters will also have to make. I don't think there is an obvious stance they can take tbh.
I agree, normally starmers fence sitting is frustrating but on this issue he's probably right to do so as it's so toxic and divisive. It's the often discussed debate about gaining power or standing by your own principles. A decision most voters will also have to make. The relationship with the EU is a huge headache for Labour.
