This is a loss. He's a fantastic part of the squad, gives us something different at fullback and has the ability to play elsewhere if needs be. We need players like that in the squad and we don't have many if any left with his departure.

I don't see bringing in a natural left back to play understudy to Cancelo as an improvement on the squad either if they're just going to be a lesser cancelo. Zinchenko was different, he showed that when he came on against Villa.

Also, £32 million is way too cheap. If Cucurella is costing us £50 million after one good season at Brighton, he's got to be in the same ballpark.

Presume he's been promised game time at centre mid. Been a model servant to the club and it was emotional watching him wrap the PL trophy with the Ukranian flag and lifting it after we beat Villa. He leaves with the goodwill of the fans and we trust in Pep and our recruitment team

What a shame he is leaving, an absolute great attitude, refusing to leave for Wolves and then making a good fist of being a left back when it was far from ideal, never a complaint about not getting into midfield and I still think it is a great attitude now wanting to be on the pitch as much as he can
