Looks a lovely dog, on the subject of failed guide dogs I dont think I will ever forget Simon Groome? on Blue Peter telling us about the latest efforts to raise money for the "Blind dogs for the Guides" :-)This is Lottie, our latest failed Guide Dog. She's an 18 month old Retriever/Shepherd cross and replaces our previous girl we lost in January.

Thats really sad news, a vet once told me it’s better to let them go a day early than a day later, although it’s bloody hard! Thanks mate, he’s actually from the Beagle rescue society, but he’s probably got some Labrador in him, he was quite a bit bigger than the Beagle I had (he died of liver cancer 18 months back, and true to Beagle form, despite that, was still sniffing and running around tracking stuff).
Tbh though, I think it’s his time now, he’s hardly got up today, managed to walk him to the park but I’ve had to carry him back, his rear and front left legs are really struggling .
I’ve got a tracker on one of mine, absolute god send ,as he’s an escape artist and if his mate gets out too they can be always found together.Been there, “the Beagle” was a bleedin nightmare for it, I’d be here all day recounting the various episodes, but there was one in particular (well two in a short space of time) which just ended his off lead stuff, didn’t get them back until he was 11, when I could run faster than him.

I’d tend to agree there mate, although if the vet says there’s a chance he can recover then I’ll be happy to give him that time, but I’m doubtful she will.thanks though bud.Thats really sad news, a vet once told me it’s better to let them go a day early than a day later, although it’s bloody hard!
I did actually look into getting them both trackers but tbh I know they’d split and go separate ways, and leave me with the dilemma (and guilt) of picking which one to prioritise lol.I’ve got a tracker on one of mine, absolute god send ,as he’s an escape artist and if his mate gets out too they can be always found together.
Some type of Corgi?
Kelpi?
This is my 2 year old Cockashit.
She thinks she's funny, but she's a knob most of the time.
As a dog owner of 36 years, she's by far the best I've had.

So sorry for your loss mate, he had a great life since you rescued him.Had to let my lad go last night, had a bit of a tumble down some concrete steps a couple of weeks ago, then 3-4 days later started to struggle on his walks scraping his claws, seems he may have exasperated a nerve problem in his back and started to lose use of his left hind and front leg, so sad as he was in great health two weeks ago to seeing him at the end, so prefer to try and remember him for being the lovable, lazy, greedy sex pest he was.

For anyone considering getting a dog, please don’t be put off by getting an older rescue (with a sound temperament), he was brilliant and I don’t regret a single day, not saying he didn’t have any challenges, which is always likely with a hound (following its nose, finding the most obnoxious smelling things he could find to eat), but he was genuinely a wonderful little dog and he’s left a very big hole in my life.
Thank you mate, sad thing is, he was skin and bone when I got him, on his chip he’d been re-homed and picked up by dog wardens 3 or 4 times and had even been on “death row” at one point, and yet he’s easily been the best dog I’ve ever known, don’t know how anyone couldn’t want him, just really gutted I took my eye off the ball for a second and it added to his demise. So sorry for your loss mate, he had a great life since you rescued him.
