10 years later our transfer window is masterpiece created by Txiki and other ones.. You can't even wish for the better one...

That transfer window was such a wasted opportunity. I can't remember if we went shopping in the bargain basement because of FFP, but if we'd added the players you mentioned as targets, we'd potentially have had a Champions League winning side, as well as ridiculous squad depth.

10 years on and it's great to see lessons have been learned. A squad refresh after consecutive titles is an exciting proposition. Hopefully Cucurella to add as well.

Thanks, wasn't sure if you were suggesting as a regular first choice FB.

Neither Cancelo not Ake are LBs, they both play in other positions which they share with specialist players in that position.

Agree to a large extent, give JWE a chance as a back-up, sign a LB however that can play and perform there. There is a reaosn the club are seemingly willing to buy Cucurella now as opposed to last year when we reportsdly also looked at him. He has proven something. They are looking for a player that has done so either i this league or another top one.

By all means, have JWE in the team though and give him minutes to come through.

It's not very clear I agree, but I think the point is that we definitely won't let Ake go now, because our number 1 replacement target if we'd sold him was Kounde.

It's like a game of musical chairs. There are 3 clubs but only 2 centre backs. Chelsea are the chumps without a chair in this analogy.

Our number 1 target? No doubt his name came up but I've seen nothing reliable that indicates he was first choice.

Gvardiol was certainly in the discussion although his price tag was prohibitive. We seem to like Pau Torres as well, but I'm not convinced by him.

Except there are literally scores of chairs waiting just outside.

You analogy fails miserably because it pre-supposes the idea than Aké and Koundé are the only valid CBs on the market.

Can't wait for this transfer window to end. Tbf real Madrid will suit Bernardo more than barca. He will find it tough at barca.

considering he's just reported FIRST, before anyone, here on BM or anywhere in the media, the big news that cucurella just handed a transfer request, and hours later other media sources confirmed it to be true, i'd say absolutely there's no chance it was a "common sense guess" and thinking otherwise is completely delusional

But i would have known he was unhappy. Its obvious he would be.

Whether anything further would happen because of that is different.
