All the players in our squad were already known and playing for top clubs before we bought them (bar Zinchenko & Jesus) we don't unearth gems, that's what a world class scouting system does.

We currently find ourselves haggling over 10million for a LB who could have been scouted a year earlier. With all our Spanish/La Masia connections why wasn't Cucurella scouted before going to Brighton.

Walker and Cancelo were just infinitely better and more established and proven than Cucurella.

Mendy was a disaster and we should never use it as a barometer for future transfers. If anything it’s a cautionary tale not to spend £50m on a relatively unproven full-back.
Mendy was a great player at Monaco and started off very well for us his injury was the mitigating factor. He was not a disaster

Yeah bet hes buzzing. Your best midfielder gone for a pittance and your best defender has put a transfer request in. At least you have signed big with names like Enciso and Adingara.
Is the transfer window over ?
Bissouma went for roughly £35m ?

Not something I expected to read today…

Makes sense actually. Being a good poker player means you are in control, relying, within the realm of mathematics, on your instinctive reaction to the other players' idiosyncrasies, facial and body language and physical condition. I can imagine not being in control by not having access to any information on which to make such an instinctive reaction could make such a player, well, flap.

Also why Bloom being a professional poker player has no bearing on these negotiations, unless Begiristain is sat opposite him on a table, sweating profusely and twitching every time Bloom mentions 50 million +.

Brighton are simply a selling club, if they don't sell him now, they will sell him next summer, no notable player is going to their club to compete unless it's for development and experience sake. We should look at alternatives

all those represent value for us. cucurella does not
It depends what you determine as value. If we didn't have a lack of full backs and going into a world cup season, I'd have agreed with you. For that reason he does represent value. We are in desperate need of a full back, unless JWE/Lewis turn into superstars this season.

I don't have the time nor the desire to tell you in detail how far off the mark your first paragraph is.

Assuming we didn't scout Cucurella YEARS earlier also reflects poorly on your credibility, although I'd like to think you know better and are just talking out of frustration.

Where I do agree with you wholeheartedly is that a failure to come to terms over 10 mil for a player we obviously like a lot for me would constitute a failure on our behalf.

I've stated myself that Bloom has played the part of an amateur in terms of his handling of the situation. And while I do agree this could harm Brighton over the long haul, I genuinely don't give a fuck about Brighton. I care about City. I'm finding it more and more difficult to reconcile us losing out on this guy over 10 mil. I see this as a find a way to get it done scenario, not a walk away scenario. JMO.

That’s a fair point. He is in a rare breed of two way full backs. However, the very best in the world aren’t 2 way full backs at all, they are extremely technically gifted ones. Ones way above Cucurella’s technical level. Cancelo, Alexander-Arnold, Davies.

If the club deemed Cucurella worth it I’d back it but I back the club to walk away as well. I do hope we have a back-up plan and sign someone like Grimaldo.
I think you'll be surprised. He created nearly as many chances as Trent and Robertson last season and he is playing for Brighton. That means he created as many as Cancelo also. If he had a Haaland upfront how many of those turn into assists?

Sniff, sniff ...
