Gas & Electricity

Trouble is everybody's looking for a source to replace Russian gas and oil forcing world prices up, Great Britain really needs to exploit the North sea more I think there's still fuel to be extracted now the price is high.
Even if we were able to just use existing known reserves we would have at best 5 yrs of Natural Gas before we run out completely.

Oil we have around 1.5Bn barrels.

Existing known reserves? Known being the keyword here. Are we actively seeking new gas? If not then your figure of 5 years will be correct, if we are, then I'm sure it's not.
And as for the oil, again, is that barrelage figure based on what we currently draw from the North Sea?
To explain myself, if we aren't investing in exploratory drilling, and just lazily pumping out what we stumble upon, then those figures could be miles out.
The North Sea is full of oil and gas, we've never exploited it properly I don't think.

There could possibly yet be huge reserves of oil in the North sea some say up to 20 billion barrels sadly in our stupidity we sold the rights to multi national companies who then sell to the highest bidder, gas reserves are more problematic as production is falling. I'm sure there are still fields to be explored but again this will be sold to the highest bidder and unlikely to do much to reduce prices in GB.

It was ALWAYS going to the utility company if you paid by direct debit.
Ot true originally I believe we were just going to be given the cash like the council tax refund, years ago they let people take control of their benefits and stopped paying landlords direct now all of a sudden we can’t be trusted to use the money, they’ve been worded up by the energy companies that people may well spend it on shock horror food whilst refusing to pay for their gas and electric.

There was a Professor from either Cambridge or Oxford on Five Drive months ago who was part of the original panel who costed the North Sea extraction for the Government in the 70's, he said they still use the costings that proved it wasn't efficient back then and it has never been reassessed in modern terms because of the push for green... Makes you wonder.

Not true.
We were never going to be given it in our bank accounts.
Only the council tax £150 was paid like that.

Why would you need a discount off your gas and electricity if you have no intention paying the bill?

Knocking the money directly off your energy account seems a sensible approach to me.
You wouldn’t but if they had given it to you like the council tax you could’ve pocketed it and then not paid

I know what you are saying, but whether you agree with it or not, the £400 is specifically to help with energy bills - it's not a general cost of living allowance.

I appreciate that I’m just saying that people could go down this route IF they didn’t automatically knock it off your bill

Know a lad and his missus who have gone to Wales for the weekend on the £326 the Gov gave people last week. Will be back cap in hand next week saying he can't afford food and rail fare. Kids looking like shit after having micro chips and beans for their tea.

I fucking hate people.

If we all refuse to pay these high prices enmass. They can’t send bailiffs to every household in the country. It’s becoming an untenable situation and the tories couldn’t give a toss about it

It needs to be everybody though and there are too many I’m alright Jacks for proper change to happen.
