Will be an interesting season this one, coming on the back of the Euros. We have lost three players who have been a major part of our success over the last few years and it may take some time to bed the new ones in. Last year was difficult due to all the injuries at the start of the season, I don't think we can't afford a slow start this year. There won't be any excuses for Taylor if we struggle, we will need to get a champions league spot and the competition will be stronger than last year. I hope the much reported expected increase in crowds is maintained throughout the season even if it does mean it will be more difficult for me to get tickets.

"It's been quite a summer and this tops it off," she added. "Manchester United is a historic club who are making big movements in the WSL and I can't wait to be a part of [the club's] future success.

Nikita Parris

Already in the 'Utd way' groove.

Since when have they been a historic club in woman's football?

Well, I hope she fails :)

I reckon the suits at the swamp know there is now money to be made and with the huge number of plastics they will be looking to fill or half fill the swamp.
Lets see how it works out.

She seems to of disappeared since leaving us . England regularly in the starting line up , to a bit player coming on as sub twice for England !

Yer have to get points from both fixtures, home and away, against the likes of CFC 'n The Arse. I think we needn't bother with the others. But lose a game and it could be season over.

It’s because she is a shadow of the player that we had back in the day. Professional squad player = who rarely plays. Did it at Lyon and Arsenal and rarely scores. Only made England squad because of past reputation and lack of competition for places up front. Ellen White and Beth England….WTF!!
Perfect for the Rags - will be marketed as a “Euro 2022 winning Lioness”.

Nikita Parris - 2021-22. 18 appearances for Arsenal and 1 goal.
Position - STRIKER
Pressure on Alessia Russo…….

She was crap before she left us imho.

Saw quite a few of her games for us. She was like Sterling - she'd score a lot, just because she was in the right positions and playing for a good team. But she'd miss a hell of a lot really poorly too.

Seems to have been converted to a right winger in the last year or two, but not a very good one tbh.

Don't really get the disdain for Parris tbh. Who cares if she's signed for United? She isn't the player she once was and has probably signed for the best club that was available to her. It's a short and not especially lucrative career (though that's hopefully changing) so she has to do the best thing for herself. I doubt we made an attempt to bring her back. Of course she's going to try and speak positively of her new club on signing for them. We've moved on and so has she.

The forward partnership of Paris and Stanway was the best in City’s history.

Yes Parris would miss chances but she had an incredible work rate like Carlos Tevez and was brave in the challenge.
Can’t agree with that….Season 2015/16 when we won the Double. WSL champions and League Cup Winners. FA Cup semi finalists.

Jane Ross - Appearances in WSL: 15 / Goals : 8 Totals = 24 /13
Toni Duggan - “ “ : 14 / Goals : 6 Totals = 21 / 6

Georgia Stanway : 7 / Goals : 4 Totals = 11 / 6
Nikita Parris : 14 / Goals : 1 Totals = 23 / 6

Stanway and Parris would go on to score lots of goals for City but Ross and Duggan were the real deal in 2015/16.

Hard to argue with this one given how rarely we've played with a two and had proper strike partnerships but I agree with @Cotontoquinn.

The comparison to Tevez is an interesting one, both Stanway and Parris had cracking work-rates but even in relative terms they were miles off everywhere else. Neither of them had the consistency or the technique you need to be that sort of goal scorer.

Stanway and Paris have about 130 goals between them for City (not always playing together of course). They are also committed players who let opposition defenders know they were in for a battle. I’m not sure why you think 2 payers are purely responsible for the amount of trophies we win, when it it a team game.

Ross and Duggan did not have the service provided for later City strikers. No Caroline Weir, Lauren Hemp or Chloe Kelly.
Two strikers who played very well together and could take their chances. Football is a team game but without excellent strikers you struggle. Just look at the recent Womens Euros…..the number of teams with truly dreadful front players was a real feature.
Haaland will surely bring us more trophies for the mens team.

We played our best football with Christiansen making the midfield tick. Yes Duggan and Ross did well but they had plenty of support from midfield and wingers too. It was the time before we stagnated for a few years with passing the ball back to our defenders too often.
