West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

Let's keep it real and grounded, it's a good win and 3 points plus 2 goals for Haaland, but it's a long hard season and nobody will give Manchester city any free points, so we will need so much more than today, and we will even lose ?

So let's not fall for any false dawns and counting our chickens, it's the pep way in we GO again next week

I don’t think they are seriously criticising, rather a comparison which confirms we did the right thing to let him go. People were asking whether we would miss his pace and his goals. The answer is no.
Exactly. The comparison was about missing one on ones, which Sterling frequently did. That, in my opinion, is a reasonable criticism of him. I can't fault his effort or what he did for us but City are obviously comfortable selling him to another top 4 side, which says a lot.

Grealish' finally ball is terrible
Rodri was absolutely outstanding
Haaland was what I expected. A true centre forward making the right move at the right time

Do not underestimate what an excellent win that was boys and girls. West ham are a very good and well organised side
Grealish was excellent, not sure what the lad has to do, he obviously follows peps instructions, keep the ball and he does it very well

Glad to get the 4th pre-season game behind us and get some minutes in the legs!

Good to see the old 2-3-5 formation coming back into vogue…at least with Pep! ;-)

Nice interchanging between the lines, coupled with some stellar ball movement.

Inverted full backs were slightly extreme, but possession meant WHU had nothing down their wings.

Rodri(go) imperious as ever in the middle of the park. Gundo was a brilliant choice of starter. I’ll leave Haaland’s goals to speak for him!

The good thing is we should be fit and ready by the time the season starts!

Totally agree, but I prefer a bit of euphoria to the idiots on the matchday forum that call out every mistake or five minute spell of the match where where not on top.

If you took the names away it would be difficult to believe we're talking about a team that's won the PL in 4 of the last 5 seasons, on top of the other trophies, or who's keeper just won the golden boot despite not having that many saves to make overall, which must tell you something about the quality of the defence.

Gary Neville and Roy Keane talking about how poor United looked while Alfie's son just scored two on his debut. I feel like I need to pinch myself but also some things never change. The only difference is it's not normally this bright out when I'm sat here on my sofa on a Sunday.

Sadcafe....

Dread to think what he’ll do to us in a highline vs Slabhead

Reply....

He’s going to teabag him isn’t he?

Us getting Ronaldo basically took us out of the running for this lad. Another huge huge mistake

Crikey! Sensible and funny comments from the rags. Quake in your boots lads, the Viking is coming to avenge his dad.

If anyone NOTICED. Kyle walker and cancelo played as DM I don't trust walker there anyway. Cole palmer or alvarez should start ahead of grealish please
