No, the cablenet "only" holds up the N, E & W stand roofs, the south stand doesn't use it at all.

So it holds up 3 sections of the roof but continues around the whole stadium passing under and through the South Stand
I'm interested to know the structure design of the South Stand roof cant find anything on it.

It’s held up by its own independent cable net which is supported by those giant triangle structures.

My mate built it. His company was in charge of building the south stand, the campus and the tunnel club. They wanted him to do the new arena but he sold up and he’s happy working 4 days a week for Mark Stott.
I’ll ask him how the roof works.

Guessing nobody knows? Lol years ago I went down from level 2 in the east stand on some stairs on the inside. Wouldn't mind checking out the new area if I can find something similar

Just larking about around the roof. A bit pointless really. It's a shame they didn't take it more seiously, as there would have been some good video shots from up there.

There is a new bar at each end of the stadium apparently, both similar, my mate doest artwork and paint for a lot of it.

You used to be able to get from south stand (L2) all around the ground to the east (the long way, not thru the away fans), but they stopped that years back from memory. When they extended the south stand i think. Unless theres a fire escape i dont think you can get from SS L2 to L1 easily

That looks amazing. Imagine if they had built us a new one! My god it would have been spectacular. That has gone, but this shows that they can make the Etihad one hell of a place. With the North Stand having been re-built for football there's perhaps more scope to doing something different. I wouldn't imagine it would be single tier because they'll no doubt want to have different price options within it and some corporate areas, but it could still be quite something.

Is the talk about the hotel being provided in the North Stand? I wonder if they'll copy the Rogers Centre where the Marriott is incorporated into one of the stands and hotel rooms have direct views over the pitch. Doesn't look great in my opinion, but it's quite a unique offer. More likely to have some corporate seats where hotel room + match ticket options can be provided. Apologies if the hotel references aren't NS related and I'm chatting shit!

I bet West Ham wish they could convert their ground properly and get rid of the running track and temporary stands. The people in charge of building what was then the City of Manchester stadium did a very good job of building something that wasn’t going to turn into a white elephant like so many Olympic Venues.
