Reading this list of players transformed by Pep I am surprised that we have not seen Bernado tried at Left back - he certainly could step into midfield when needed.Angelino is quicker than Zinchenko, and has the engine to bomb up and down all match. IMO Angelino's problem was that he's been a LB all his life and struggled to play inside.
Pep has never used a traditional LB.
Sylvinho is the closest but he had played in midfield and didn't last long as Pep's LB anyway.
Abidal was a CB
Alaba was a CM turned LB
Bernat was an attacking midfielder turn LB
Delph, Zinchenko and Cancelo are self explanatory.
He has never liked classic left backs. Even in his first season here he preferred right footed Clichy to Kolarov.
I think they're just too used to seeing the game from a 180 degree angle with the touchline as a constant frame of reference, and Pep needs them to go into midfield and play 360 degree football.
Well he was, I don't know what else to say.
It's a fairly famous story that he was right footed and his dad forced him to train with only his left because he thought he'd have a better chance of a career as a left back.

Or maybe keep both and have 2 Leftbacks and 2 Righbacks
That's fair enough mate, hid it well as I had him down as a natural leftie all day long
If that is our strategy, one might wonder why we didn’t sign him the moment the transfer window opened and before Cucurela’s price rose almost as fast as an energy bill…I think the club know full well that he’ll be loaned out to Girona. However, by signing him and saying that we’ll assess him before we do, it reduces the chance of another club trying to pull our pants down when we go in for the likes of Lodi, Sosa, Ait-Nouri etc

IF that was a strategy maybe it’s because we learned from what Brighton did with cockfella. Personally I think we bought him because we like him in his own rightIf that is our strategy, one might wonder why we didn’t sign him the moment the transfer window opened and before Cucurela’s price rose almost as fast as an energy bill…
That he'll likely increase in value at least 2 fold- yes. Smart business. We'd spend 12m on a player we don't want so we can save 5-10m on a player we do want?

If Carlsberg did “worse things than looking Scottish”.Looks like a mix of Jamie Vardy and Adam Johnson
FinallyEverything I hear about him says he'll fit well. And I really like the price.
Leftback is one of those positions where price don't always determine quality. Case in point, Robertson at Pool or Cucurella at Brighton.
If rather we look at the qualities the player offers. And here, it seems he has spades of the kinda qualities we cherish.
