Frenkie de Jong

Fkin 'ell

Stay at Barcelona and let the robbing twats take £17 million off you in unpaid wages or sign for the rags and be immediately involved in a relegation battle..!

It's only money and Barcelona is nice..!

I don’t think the issue with De Jong is his wages. It’s that City seemingly have no interest in the player any more. Shame, as it would make good sense on a lot of levels.

You're probably right.

We'll end up seeing Chelsea sign him, strenghening them significantly, then Barcelona will use the money Boehly is throwing around to put in a good offer for Bernardo, which we seem to have agreed we'll accept.

Then the last week of the transfer window will be us trying to buy second rate replacements, everyone will put up their prices or say no and we'll go down our list of options until we sign someone with a release clause from Spain or Portugal.

The feeling may be that if we go for Bellingham next summer then suddenly we’re paying De Jong a massive wedge to perhaps not even be first choice.

Bellingham for Bernardo with a new contract for Gundogan may be the plan 12 months from now.

I'm not denying he's a talented player but he's hardly lived up to the billing with Barca since his transfer. I'm sure there's a lot of factors contributing to that but he's certainly had the opportunity to do more.

Agree with the first bit. I don’t think we’ll be scrabbling around for a Bernardo replacement though. I imagine we know already who we’ll go for (maybe Paqueta or Nunes) and probably have a deal in principle lined up. If Bernardo goes this window, and I very much hope he doesn’t, I think we’ll move very quickly and decisively for a replacement.

Any deal for Bernardo should be caveated that we get our replacement in first or he doesn’t go! Barca seemingly know the fee to get Bernardo and it’s rumored he has agreed personal terms so that could get done very quickly? It’s our replacement that needs sorting asap first if the deal was to happen

Maybe you're right, but to be honest, the Zinchenko/Cucurella saga has left me thinking the club's plans are not quite as rock solid and foolproof as we (or they) think.

So to sum up.

I said comparing him to Bernardo is wrong, he needs to be compared to other Bernardo replacements.

You've replied by just comparing him to Bernardo again.

I said he's getting his 17m from Barcelona, you've replied by saying I think he's going to let it go.

Have you been in the sun too long?
How do you know he is getting his 17m in time from Barca to then leave and transfer somewhere else?

Its only wrong to compare him to Bernardo in your opinion.....Im saying we dont need the type of player he is full stop....we need Bernardo Silva and letting him go and bringing in FDJ weakens our squad

FDJ to City? no fuckin way he would he go anywhere near the Red Titanic
not that we want him, but, if Bernardo does one, you know.

No matter who we replace Bernardo with, we’re weakening our squad. If he does go, then FDJ would be one off the best replacements we could get. Looked certain to be the best midfielder in the world before he joined that shitshow. I’d personally want Barella, but don’t think he wants to leave Italy

I'll take any 2 from FDJ, Nunes and Paqueta to replace Bernie,

I hope you are right, if Bernardo leaves we need a replacement.

No swapping of players. Cash only. de Jong isn't a realistic deal for us. Felix would be my pick but the only problem is Atletico are wanting to keep him and it would be super expensive deal (although being a Mendes client it could be a bit more smoother one). Grealish and Foden are probably earmarked for this season if Bernardo leaves. Gomez will be our last signing.
