Think he was right to take the shot on, but he should have scored its as simple as that

Yes, he could have squared it for a tap-in, but equally he needs to have the confidence to shoot and score from there

We will need goals from other sources, and today has been a good day for that, but ultimately I'd expect my left winger to be shooting and scoring from there

Sure, I'm all for that, - but NOT when he has as goal scoring machine with an open goal next to him.

No passing takes the keeper out 100% shooting didn’t.

Disagree imo. Genuinely couldn’t name the last time Pep made a sub at half time.
Exactly. He doesn’t unless there’s an injury. And there was no injury. Foden was subbed because of what he was doing on the pitch, there is no debate to be had about that. He has to kick on and be seen to be improving his weaknesses. Pep’s obviously going to do his bit to ensure that happens. Up to Phil now.

Good to have the confidence to shoot.

But when the alternative is an easy pass to a teammate in a position he'll almost certainly score from, you absolutely have to hit the back of the net.

If Phil scores that, we don't talk about the pass that was on.

Got to have a certain element of playing the probabilities, especially at 0-0. Didn't matter today but in a closer match against a tougher opponent that's the kind of decision-making that wins or loses games.

I hope it's not why he was taken off, though. Making mistakes is how people learn, it's not something that needs punishment.

Doubt it will be a very popular opinion, but I think he needs to step it up a bit, seems to be stuck in the full of promise tag, IF and it a big IF bernardo goes then foden could be the one to replace him in that position , he has the pace he has the skills etc but he seems to be stagnating a little with his progress, really want to see him take a game by the scruff of the neck like we think he could, maybe if he played in a set position a bit more instead of moving positions every game we might see more from him

I guess you must have missed his performances against the likes of Dortmund and PSG in the CL?

He was definitely taken off for that. I don't think it was about his inability to read the situation. He's a local hero and Haaland is casting a shadow on him. He was selfish, Pep saw it, saw the ramifications, and yanked him.

Hes always rode Foden harder than others. Sort of like Sane in that way
Thanks Pep

Despite the missed pass to Haaland, how about that touch to set up his shot? Unreal.

Complete nonsense

Look back over the past year. His goal today went straight at the keeper after missing a great chance earlier. He needs to improve his output from the left hand side, Sane was phenomenal at those far corner strikes and Foden seems to drag/scoff those shots.
