Very bad choice from him
Honestly shouldn’t start the next game for that, it’s really poor. You don’t know that the match is going to be fine and end 4-0, you have to kill them whether the chance is after 1 minute, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, whenever. Pep said in the pre-match press conference that he “has to read situations better”. This is exactly that.

Terrible decision with the non-pass, but didn't play bad overall and got his first goal of the season. Hopefully nothing injury related as we need him fit and firing.

Still feels we look more dangerous on the left with Foden/Cancelo than the Grealish/Cancelo combo.

Goal and assist, but he should make that pass.

Maybe he didn't look up, if I am to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I think it's okay to give him a pass considering we won 4-0 lol.

Bit of an overreaction - your first statement. Plenty of other players have made similar mistakes. He did get a goal and a fortunate assist

Not starting match is a bit overkill (he got sub off at half time to that makes up for the mistake)but everything else spot on.

Football is ridiculously overanalyzed these days. It's a split second decision and if he scores, nobody bats an eyelid. Great save by their keeper.
He should have passed it but I agree. Also has Phil not earned the right to take that shot? Imo he has.

Last week people were moaning in the ground that Gundogan tried to
square it to Haaland in almost identical position.
I’ve been at the Etihad loads of times to here groans and two Silva’s, Gundogan etc squaring it there.

Should pass it there, but he’s not. Hardly a droppable offender.

No he hasn't. There is no right to make the dumb play. It was a dumb play. We'll live with it. But you can't earn the right to make a bad play. At least I don't think so.

That said, he had a fine game. Just this one poor decision.

Got a feeling he got subbed because of that non-pass to Haaland. Tbf, local lad or not, he shouldn’t be immune to criticism. He should be squaring that every day of the week simple as. Haaland was raging

He got subbed, because he’s had no pre season..

Are we at the point where one miss placed pass/ poor decision means a player is dropped? That’s ridiculous

What does being local have to do with it?

Oh look we dominated a game win four nil and there people trying to find anything they can Fcking moan at!

Save that moaning for when Pep goes and we fall back into the pack!

No, they will be drilled in training about these scenarios. That attack isn't end up like that through luck. The players are arriving at the points they are instructed to.
Phil will have been told to square the pass on every occasion. Square pass = 100% goal for Haaland.
Phil was rightly hooked at half time. Now he will learn.
