Keir Starmer

The Starmer debate is very interesting. From your statement it sounds like he doesn’t put anything forward but I hear loads from him. On the current issue of energy costs, he’s put forward detailed plans that Labour would implement, such as capping the price at current levels, putting an immediate windfall tax on the profiteers and ensure those profiteering in future would pay the price.

A while ago he also stated that he would not privatise the industry but would work with them in a semi-privatised where the nation has influence on what happens within the industry.

There‘s obviously a lot more to Labours plans but, it seems, doesn’t ever get to the Mail/Express readers of this world.

It’s all about playing the game as far as I see it. Starmer knows the rules and plays it well.

Or we could go back to the Mark Hughes care free style and disorganisation under Corbyn.

Lets go gung-ho and then moan about the offside rules and VAR because it wasn't our fault we got the strategy and tactics wrong. Doesn't matter if we fail to win power and effect meaningful change as "we will have won the argument".

I'm a green supporter and have stated he would be better than this current lot.

How long have they had your support?

:)

Until PR they are a wasted vote. No hope of winning more than 2 or 3 seats max.

Makes you feel better and you remain true to yourself but it is performative not pragmatic.
Not going around this again it's been done. Whoever you vote for is wasted and worse than that it legitimises the current system that is unfit for purpose.

People need to accept the vast majority don't get their views from the Mail or Express. Its a continual cop out used on here. There are plenty of Labour supporters on here and in the country in general who are critical of him.

I wasn’t addressing it to you per se, more of a point about where people choose to get their info from.

As mentioned, Labour have pushed loads of stuff across but it is seemingly ignored until it’s taken up by this populist government IOT pacify their diminishing support.

Okay let's add a dose of realism here. You will have an opinion and believe its well informed. You don't believe yourself to be stupid or easily led. I will feel exactly the same. Most people also see themselves that way.

To make life easier lets discuss something we agree on. We both think this govt is shite and needs getting rid of. But there will be lots of things we disagree on. Have I been brainwashed on those subjects? Has the media got me? Maybe I'm just stupid so my dislike for the tories must mean the tories are great coz I'm stupid.

The simple fact is self interest and stupidity will be present amongst all supporters of all parties. The media whether it is papers tv or the Internet is full of differing opinions. What are the majority doing? Can they not sell papers or work a phone. Are they incapable of selling their ideas?

Currently the majority of the population are to the left of this government. So I would be asking how is it possible they can have a huge majority. Where do the majority get there views from? It can't be the daily mail.

If a minority rules over the majority who are the daft ones allowing it to happen?

The opposition parties could get rid of them for a long time and make this country better for those who need help. To do it you need the biggest opposition parry onside. That is Labour and they won't do it.

So I shan't be voting for Labour or getting a semi when Starmer in opposition says he will do better. Any fucker can do that.

Again, not much mention of the Labour policy of looking after people.

Seems that the right and those who have had their noses pushed out don‘t really care about caring, they’re only about their own personal view.

Is a policy to keep energy prices low bad for the those who can’t afford it, right, or do you disagree?

At last, a Labour Party policy from the top.

Exactly what is needed to put political pressure on this horrific government to act in a similar fashion.

So to sum up. Everyone has a different view. But most voters are to the left of this government (not difficult). But the Labour Party doesn't want to make this country better, so you won't vote for Labour.

A non voter then, blaming other voters for voting Tory?

Green voter actually, and you completely missed the whole point thus confirming there are indeed stupid people across the whole spectrum.

The point was well disguised whatever it was.

As for stupid, you want to get rid of this shite government and will be voting Green. How does that work?

Thought he was pretty good on Radio 4 this morning. Refreshing to hear concrete proposals, and even more refreshing to hear a politician who at least sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
And covered his back on being missing in action by saying he'd asked colleagues (sorry, tasked colleagues) to come up with concrete proposals, and by not apologising for taking a family holiday. (He could have said "while the government takes a holiday from governing".)

And he got in "my father was a steelworker and my mother a nurse".

no. Just pointing out that whilst people are having am pop at Starmer at least today he is making a policy statement - Johnson is absent again.

He is a lame duck, there is nothing left for him to do without asking his former minions for approval.

The decent thing would be to resign immediately and bring an end to the leadership contest.

I cannot imagine two weeks would make much difference to the voting numbers and result.
