This is why I can't take utd fans or until recently Arsenal fans rioting against their owners. They don't have a scooby about incompetent ownership of the club.
We had every right to campaign to get Swales out in the mid 90's. He had been in charge for over 20 years and had run the club down. There was also a credible buyer trying to take over the club.

When you watch this you just wonder, I was always brought to believe that City didn't even own the souvenir shop, the catering was owned by some outside firm that didn't put money in the City bank? How did that happen? Yet he wants to own everything with the City crest/badge? Seems that an awful lot of money never came into the club for many years

Stadia Catering who supplied the gruel and pigswill served up at Maine Road was owned by Stoke’s owners the Coates family before they hit it big with Bet365
Peter Coates was a pal of Swales

So maybe some of that money ended up in brown paper parcels and was sent back up the m6??????? Just saying in jest of course hahaha
 
Swales had lots of ideas - some good, some not- but too often his actions contradicted his ambitions. Like bringing back Allison but then allowing him to sell our best youngsters in Barnes and Owen and replace them with inferior players.
 
We were positioned at the time as a club that could have gone on to win the league and cups again. But sold our best players and kept getting manager appointments wrong.

After being the best stadium in the country when it was opened in 1923, we had plans to make our stadium the best in the country again:

But nothing much came of it, and by the time we left in 2003 is was a very average ground considering two of the stands were brand new.

Just watched that video - funny as in some places - I think the current fashion for those losing their hair is much more dignified than some of those comb over creations in that video - the sums of money are laughably small compared to today
 
I really wish Peter Swales would come back to life so I could have the pleasure of hearing about his death again.
