Olivia’s killer guilty - Minimum of 42 years

Most people generally are inherently good people and want the same things and what happened recently was a horrible thing. Is it unique to Liverpool , most definitely not.
The economy like most port cities has always involved a criminal element and sadly a lot of the development in the city is clouded by controversy. But your average person will just go about their daily life and not encounter any crime or violence.
Sadly we live in a world where often the authorities are powerless and discipline can be looked upon as being abusive. So we end up with a section of society that feel they are above the law and act accordingly. People are trying to change things within the city but it can be a long slow process.

Even 3 or 4 days after the event, I still can't get my head around the sheer barbarity of what happened last monday. What sort of lunatic
A. Carries a gun on the streets in the first place. And
B. Fires indiscriminately into a house where there's kid(s) present. Indeed, does so regardless of whether there's children there or not.

And let's not get up on our high horses about Liverpool. Manchester doesn't have a great reputation regarding gun crime and gang warfare. There's a marked criminal subculture in both cities.

All well and good, jimharri, though the manc gangsters, dealers and crims are all jolly good folk - whereas those in scouseland are the scum'o't'earth...

It could easily have happened here. I remember an episode of that detectives documentary when some kids were playing in a street in North Manchester seconds before some gang with a gun drove past shooting at someone. They eventually shot him dead;lin a car. The shooter got 39 years minimum, at 28 that's his life totally over, 67 if they let him out then.

Sit down Jim and munch on a tin of Quality Street ;)

Ha ha I think it was drug related. While most thugs aren't the brightest pebbles on the beach I have no idea why they get into all this shit. Constantly looking over their shoulders for the police and other gangs and any money they make eventually eaten up by the poc act. Years in prison or dead, an endless cycle of fear and misery punctuated by a short period of splashing the cash before it's seized. Become an MP more money and you can rob people with impunity

we could start sending scousers to Rwanda?
The little girl was a scousers. Her mum is a scouser. The two other innocent women murdered, one stabbed and the other shot to death were scousers. Some times the football tribalism isn’t the thing to bring up when bigger and more important things are at play…. We have our fair share of problems with gun and knife crime in Manchester too….

If Dipperton was (apparently they believe it is) a country, it would be on sanctions list and probably called a failed state. They will never catch the culprit, someone may be forced to put their hand up, but even that is unlikely.
Do you not think we are all living in a failed state at the moment? Some of the shit that I see on a daily basis with my work would make most people’s toes curl. That is all over the UK.

I live in Merseyside now, whilst I have no love for Liverpool FC or the sentimentalism that seems to par of the culture

There is some classic stereotyping going on in this thread the vast majority of people in Liverpool are no more criminals than the vast amount of people in Manchester, London, leeds or anywhere in the UK!

The fact that parts of the city are blighted by poverty just as parts of Manchester are comes into it, we've had epidemics of shootings in Manchester and Salford before now
I was just going to post similar. The stereotyping is classic. I now live in Crosby and have done for some time. I grew up in Cheetham Hill until 10 and then upgraded to Moss Side, have been badly stabbed and shot at a number of times as a kid and was no saint at all. Some of the lads I grew up with are no longer with us and some are still doing long stretches. One was shot to death in front of us many years ago when we were playing pool. I have no idea where some of the folks on here think they are living. Poverty and criminal behaviour is in all large cities. I’ve worked in guns and gangs teams previously and with the police all over the North West. I almost spat my coffee out reading the post about kids from Liverpool going to Formby and Ormskirk. Fucking hell that is just anti social behaviour and happens everywhere. Anyone been to Formby? It’s full of footballers and closes about 8pm. Ormskirk isn’t far behind. Maybe they were looking for Kenny Dalgleish or Hanson. They live out that way towards Birkdale.

I also watched the series.
There was one where the victim had said he wasn't scared of the "ginger cnut" and this had fuelled the feud further.
Either way absolutely pathetic to be taking a person's life this way

But there is, in my experience with the sister in law and her friends, an undercurrent of 'we do what we want'. Everything seems to be done underhand, us against authority, especially govt.

That state of mind sadly, isn't exclusive to Scousers. It's in several areas of the modern society we are so lucky to live amongst.

Whatever you're referring to, did go over my head. So go on then; explain.
quality street (are /were) a notorious gang from manchester , allegedly put the fear of god into the krays to stop them trying it on oop norf (that last bit could be bulllshit)
