Gas & Electricity

I am going all whim hoff , the ice man , embrace the cold , i already walk in the freezing mornings , it is brilliant

Seriously though , you have to put the heating on sometimes else your pipes will freeze in jan/ feb especially , low and short times, just enough to keep the system going
The mornings aren’t freezing, yet…

If your heating system breaks, you can negate the urge to put it on as it won’t work anyway.

Yep. And the boiler is made up of parts that need to be used. Mine will be on to dry clothes only.

Yeah forgot about drying clothes , i have rails above a couple of radiators so it doesnt take long , i do think it is important to get warm for an hour in the mornings at least , especially for anyone home all the time . It really is worrying , i havent seen anyone predict what the winter will be like , hopefully a mild one

Bloody lunatic him

Why the fuck aren’t you concerned about helping your fellow man, you literally said in a post yourself that society is too selfish nowadays!

I’m bothered personally as it’ll still have an impact on me (and already has) regardless of that salary, I’m not that bothered or selfish enough to think that it shouldn’t though.

I’ll repeat again, I want to see an increase in the higher rate and additional rate income tax threshold.
And here we have it. Getting Joe public to blame each other depending whether they work in the public or private sector. The government has won. Aim all of your anger at them. They're talking about libraries being warm hubs for people to go to, many towns don't even have a library after austerity. The country is broken and people turning on each other will only make it worse.

Another simple one is leaving the oven door open after you have used it, let the heat be of some use.

Michael Fish reckons it will be a tropical winter with no bad weather whatsoever. I have every faith in him as he has a good track record

I wont be diving in the sea , i do have friends who do that but with my one handed situation i would just go round in circles , ha , i do walk in the early morning in freezing weather just in a summer dress , it is very invigorating , the neighbours think i am bonkers though , ha

Best way to be..I take it you talk to yourself ;)

The political paralysis that this shithouse government have caused will not be forgotten as Boris has had his foreign holidays whilst Truss and Sunak are poncing around the country offering nothing to put peoples minds at ease. There is a simple solution, Ofgem and the government should just say fuck off the prices are not going up more than the rate of inflation
Gas prices cannot be tied to inflation. Gas is a commodity that has to be imported and the price of importing it has gone up by nearly 500% in a year. The prediction for next year is wholesale gas will be 600% to 800% more expensive than 2021, it is simply impossible to increase prices in line with inflation or every energy supplier will go bust.

If you google forward gas wholesale gas prices then you can see it, electricity generation prices have gone up constantly (because we burn gas for electricity) and domestic gas for cooking/heating will start to increase as demand increases towards winter.

How can you not rise prices somewhat in line with this? If you tie prices to inflation then the energy companies would be bankrupted in a few months when the price goes up again. You could nationalise but you will still need to buy gas at the same price as before. Profit accounts for less than 10% of your bill so nationalising at a cost of tens of billions will get you perhaps 10% off your bill.

Cannot even blame the wokies for the stalling of nucleur power, that was down to the greenies.

Every time I've moaned about working in the public sector the usual reply is "well change your job then..." Valid argument, but the same can be used for those in the private sector who think all is fine and dandy where we are.
Look at what came out in the news today...a police officer holding the gunshot wound of that little Liverpool girl, trying desperately to keep her alive in the back of that police car. Imagine reliving THAT everyday for the rest of your life.
I know that is an extreme example, but try living with seeing a colleague punched in the face so hard it broke her cheekbone, a heavily pregnant colleague who was informed she would have her throat cut and multiple stand offs between security guards and people who are either mentally ill or just nasty horrible bastards.
We understand why our pay is low...we don't produce "profits" in the way most people measure that. However, please don't lecture me that we don't deserve to be able to negotiate for more pay or, indeed, strike.
This rant wasn't aimed at you by the way, just the poster you had answered. The tosser.

Fully agreed mate. I grew up not fond of the police to put it lightly. Now I know why they treat people with disdain, they get abused of not attacked constantly.
I'm just a technician at a high school. I make sure the kids don't cut their fingers off on the band saw, First Aider and drive the mini bus. My take home is 15 grand a year.
I do it cos I love it and the holidays are great for my kids. But I work as hard as I did in the private sector for some **** sat on a yacht. Not again
