Owning a nice watch

I'd like to spend more on a watch but can't right now. I like my Hamilton Pan Europ, but this is my favourite at the minute (Autodromo):

I don't know much about watches if anything at all, but Hamilton is in my mind because of the absolutely entitled F1 driver who tried to stop this old company from trademarking it's name in Europe.

Very nice, Tissot make some great looking watches
Thanks mate.
Some are keepers, this is one of them.
It's not about the money, it's about the history, design, and how a certain piece makes you feel when you handle/ study it.

Now THAT is a watch. I’m drooling here. I’d take that over a Daytona every day of the week. Beautiful.
Bought it 2 years ago for £6,000,was offered £7,500 from the jeweler I got my Rolex from last week but I wouldn't sell it as I love it to much, every time I put it on I can't help looking at it every minute of the day and that's not because I want to know the time,my eyes and lots of other people's eyes are drawn to its beauty. To be honest if I was offered a swap with the Rolex Daytona I would turn that down as well even though Daytona's are going for over £100,000 at times

IMG_20220904_232942.jpgthought I would post this photo of the back of the zenith so you can see and admire the craftsmanship of the watchmaker

Real quickie if anyone’s around to answer this:

I’ve a chance to buy a second hand Movado series 800 tomorrow (for about £150).

Love the look (Rolex sub/sports watch) but know little about them.

Retail around £800 for thus particular model but unsure whether it’s worth it (& instead looking at some of those Chinese models posted here recently in this style)?

Need to make a quick decision in the morning though.

Yes - I will do.
I can’t find a great deal of info on them but it does look like a lovely piece for the price.

I’ll have a good look over for damage first & keep you updated.

Thanks!

Not as expensive as some others on here, but the Seiko 5 Sports looks rather tasty on a NTTD Nato I think. Perfect for the autumn.

Grabbed myself a Seiko 5 GMT this past Christmas. I did the black face with black/grey bezel (shown), as opposed to the blue face with black/blue or orange face with the black/orange bezel.

To me, it looks a treat and when I have tested it, it has been accurate within a few seconds per day. If I don’t wear it for 24 hrs, I wind it 40 times to keep good time. However, I often hack it to my iPhone clock if I’m about to wear it for the day or a trip.

Lume is good, but not as bright as I’d hoped with extended wear.

Crown is smooth and accurate for precise time setting, and even though not a screw down, it has sufficient water resistance for anything I would use it.

Very happy with it as a daily wear timepiece, as it’s very versatile…casual cool but dressy enough when suited and booted.

Unsure whether I will keep the original, and apparently much loved, Jubilee bracelet, as I prefer the Oyster style bracelet.
