I would vote to scrap VAR

why? because every bad (or even correct) decision is being met with outrage and cries of corruption

so lets go back to football without VAR and lets really see if this makes everyone happier, if there is no more controversy every weekend and no debate about the officials decisions.
Or—and I know this will sound crazy—let’s do what most of us are advocating for and reform VAR (and officiating in general) to be substantially more transparent and far less susceptible to manipulation?

And make it quicker, not have a tea and biscuits meeting that lasts forever. They made it quick enough when our goal against the spuds was disallowed in the 93rd minute.

I know it's a subject that courts controversy but I can't help but think that VAR was installed into the game to give decisions to the "Big" teams, and I don't want to think of it that way at all.

Been calling for that all thread

Yet I’m a ‘lover’’think it’s perfect’ etc etc

It’s clearly not, there’s way to improve it and that’s the benefit of having VAR - there can always be hope it can improve and be more transparent

Without VAR then we simply have to accept god awful decisions

It’s not about improving VAR, it’s about dealing with the elephant in the room and that elephant is PiGMOB.

The PL has no intention of doing that.

The shitshow will continue on I’m afraid.

Someone mentioned god awful decisions with VAR and we can all recount so many....

Did we get this many before VAR? I dont seem to remember it being as starkly shit decisions making as consistenly as it is now.

Or maybe its that with VAR we're making many many more decisions, even ones that wouldnt have been a "decision" previously, IE slightest offsides wouldnt get flagged and the goal standing wasnt even a debate, we all accepted it tbh.

The issue is poor refereeing. The VAR is drawn from the same cadre as the match refs.
The best solution is better training and selection of refs.
Years ago, I spoke to a league ref about the then new back pass to keeper rule. He had done a training day, but he had no understanding of what constituted a pass to the keeper. Specifically, he thought that ANY TOUCH by a defender was a back pass. A trained ref ffs.
Forget blaming VAR, just train them better.

The people defending VAR need to explain to me why it so often takes three minutes to determine whether or not there's been a supposedly "clear and obvious error". It doesn't take three minutes to do that, does i? It takes 30 seconds at best. How can something that's clear and obvious take 3 minutes. Makes no sense!!

I Fuckin hate VAR with a passion. Killing the game. Just taken away one of the best premier league goals. NO ONE can excuse it this week. Not even Blue Hammer. Technically things might be right by millimetres but if they are contentious like that one and take 4 AND A HALF MINUTES is just not right. Only people who have never played the game or have shares in VAR believe that’s offside.
And the fact that VAR referrels might end up taking 4 and a half minutes was never on the tin, when they first sold it to us.

Totally agree but the FA will be well aware of the criticism it's receiving regarding VAR from players, managers, pundits and fans, but continues along the path of VAR being a closed shop where very few are given access to discussions.

Rugby and Cricket are great examples of how VAR is effectively and transparently applied. No fuss, just openly discussing and showing what they want checked.

It isn't difficult, but for whatever reason, the FA continue to apply it in an antagonistic manner.

I completely agree, and it’s a plank of my argument that there is only so long anyone can persist calling these bad (non)decisions a product of incompetence.

If an organisation is aware of persistent incompetence, and decides to not only forgo mitigation, but also protect the incompetent agents from accountability, it quickly becomes corruption.

Except 2020 and did their very best last year two games against Liverpool were manufactured draws. Let’s not forget how many times it have Liverpool points
It didn’t seem to affect the outcome of the league though, so maybe they’re shit at being corrupt too.
