So, what you're saying is, I should sit at home and be solemn and miserable for the next ten days because a 96 year-old woman has died peacefully in her sleep? I take it I have to work during these ten days, can I still crack a joke and banter with my colleagues during this time? Or would that be disrespectful? Must I wear black for the next ten days? Can I watch Netflix and Disney Plus during this time or is that enjoyment also disrespectful?

I understand and fully respect that some will be sad and want to mourn, but don't then assume the whole country is one bleeding heart of anguish, because it isn't.

I lost my Grandfather and Grandmother earlier this year, they were my King and Queen. I was cut up but I didn't dwell and deprive myself of one of my greatest pleasures when that happened, so I sure as shit I'm not going to do it now.

You've got the media trying to convince us the nation is harrowed whilst simultaneously showing us footage of the same nation taking selfies and smiling outside Buckingham Palace. The whole thing is a piss take.
Absolutely spot on.

Ridiculous decision to cancel football and force it on people.

(Not directed AT you, but at the prevailing sensibility you are expressing.)

And the reason you are free to say that is?

A little ‘istree lesson needed for some. And, no, my Granny was not the “official” Queen, either, regardless of my personal feelings, but that didn’t mean I disrespected who was.
So you are saying the reason we have freedom of speech in this country is *checks notes* the queen?

We will never see her like again. And the postponement of football this weekend is absolutely the correct thing. We get so much wrong in this country. The rightful mourning at the passing of the country’s head of state is something we should and will get right.
Respect to the Queen, but a woman who lived to be 96, who wanted for nothing materially in her entire life, passing away peacefully in luxury most of us can only hope to ever experience, should force thousands of businesses and individuals—most already struggling to stay afloat in the middle of an economic crisis—to lose large amounts of money? So people can do something that can be done perfectly well *without* having their livelihoods threatened?

Has the world gone completely mad?

There’s respect and then there’s taking the piss.

96 and good post..

Not looking forward to this one at all. Fully expecting another episode of the Kane & Son show. No point waiting until Saturday evening to say it so fuck off Spurs.

Can understand games being called off on the day (or even weekend) of her funeral, but to potentially postpone all football over two weekends (and midweek) would be a bit excessive imo. Possibly unworkable too, with an already packed schedule due to the World Cup.
Not even factoring in the immense economic cost to businesses and individuals already struggling to stay afloat amidst an economic crisis.

Announced tomo morn if on or not. Possibly means they going ahead as surely if gonna call them off do it asap so fans can sort out

If Dortmund was off there is no more midweeks free before the World Cup so that’ll be interesting to find out how they’ll manage that!

I think it would mean a lot more to those that go to games to pay respect at the match before ko in a crowd and place they have an affinity to, rather than postponing all matches.

I can't believe UEFA would even consider postponing games for the death of a head of state of a single member nation, it will go ahead

Edit: 2 member nations of course, I guess if any club will want to mourn, it's going to be Rangers
