Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

She gave us 70 years.

The least the public can do is give up a weekend of football.

I don't think many can quite comprehend what a huge moment in time this is, irrespective of your own viewpoint.

It's bigger than any sport, stuff our great grandchildren will be reading about in school 100 years from now.

Certainly not did City fuck up again at home to Spurs this weekend.

It’s actually one of the few opportunities people will get to pay their respects, en masse. Cricket fans will get it, rugby fans will get it, horse racing goers will get it, but not the supporters of the national game. Huge missed opportunity as far as I can see.

A day of no football does cost something though. It costs millions of people the opportunity to spend some time enjoying themselves with friends and family.

It costs millions of kids - who have already lost two years of their lives during covid - the opportunity to play football with their mates.

People are talking about respect, when in actual fact depriving people of the opportunity to do something they enjoy and is extremely important in their lives, is one of the most selfish and inconsiderate acts possible.

There is no reason why the nation can’t mourn and millions of people can still enjoy their free time. These two things are not mutually exclusive.

This is an absolute joke of a decision.

Absolutely spot on, couldn't agree more!

If it was fairly applied to all sports i'd be for it, or more for it

but the fact Rugby fans can all sing and drink in the stands, cricket fans the same and other sporting events going ahead - but football can't is nonsense and ridiculous

Because the football authorities are too interested in being seen to be doing the right thing they’ve ended up doing the opposite. Morons

Dortmund game going ahead so why can't the Spurs and Wolves games? And I don't mean practically, because UEFA and FA are different organisations. But come on, man.

The whole thing is unbelievable. Thank god for streaming services so some of us can get away from all this nonsense.

Unfortunately, it’s going to stop thousands of people who work at football clubs earning money at the games, but in the flip-side it’s also going to stop thousands of fans pissing a load of money we haven’t really got at the moment up the wall.

I go to the rugby mate. Trust me, you don’t want beer allowed in the stands at the footy. It’s a fucking nightmare!

It is, but another good point is why the fuck are people still living their lives based on what the fucking Daily Mail think?
I constantly question how that horrible, lying, fear mongering piece of shit rag is the most powerful piece of propaganda in the country, but, to be fair, this is probably the least egregious of their acts of influence.

Would have made the games feel like bigger occasions n’all, I reckon. But it’s done now so let’s just try and enjoy the weekend doing other things.

Confirmed that the Dortmund game will go ahead.
They play at 14:30 tomorrow, so now we get a nice rest ahead of that. Puts us at an advantage now. Get that won, get a good result against Copenhagen and we’re pretty much qualified then.

See, there’s always a positive to be taken!
