It's wholly different. Those footballers and billionaires you've just mentioned have actually grafted to get to where they are. Actual hard work and dedication. Not just showing your face at public events to cut a ribbon and then wave and smile politely. They didn't have a life of unparalleled luxury thrust upon them purely because they fell out of a particularly birth canal.
The Royal Family are loved by many. That's fine. But many also see them for what they are, the vestiges of bloodthirsty, lawless land grabs and a time when they quite literally shat on their subjects from a great height. Good on those representing those Irish and African groups who aren't conforming to this fawning, sickly bullshit.
I have more respect for ALL of City's players than I do for my new "king". In fact I have more respect for the tea lady. He isn't my king; I fucking detest what he represents and embodies and thus, he's an irrelevance to me.
You need to pull your arse out of the past and judge the monarchy now. Parliament used to shit on the common man, other nations and engage in bloodthirsty land grabs. The people in the monarchy and parliament have changed over the centuries in line with modern views.
It’s a life of privilege in a monetary sense but many privileges you and I enjoy they aren’t afforded. They’re not free to live a normal life, you have to watch absolutely everything you say and do, cannot go out about your day without being filmed and followed by thousands. Even Harry said he feels sorry for senior Royals as it’s like being trapped in that life.
I’d take the odd worry about bills and my terrace house over Buckingham Palace, to live a free life where I can go out and enjoy myself whilst being left alone.
And it’s not just cutting ribbons, she’s overseen the Commonwealth, been the most traveled monarch in history, got her arse out there acting as an ambassador, met and hosted leaders from all over the world, questioned Prime Ministers and spoken to the public.
She was working two days before she died for fuck sake.
You need to look at what other leaders have said about her, your opinion more informed than Obama’s for example? Or Macron?
Even the SNP, who want to leave the UK love her and what’s she’s done.
You might hate the fact it’s inherited but there is a benefit to that, it means a single family are giving their lives to be dedicated to these roles and with that you get much more dedication and consistency.
You talk about land grabs and bloodthirst from the past but every leader in every country and every people did that, it’s not a symptom of the monarchy necessarily, it was a symptom of human aggression and greed which has been shown in many other systems.
Putin is doing it now and he’s not a monarch, if he was and there was a democratic elected parliament, they’d have probably stopped him.
I’ve seen loads of posts and comments from Africa sending condolences. Of course there are hateful and bitter ignorant people who won’t and will say disgusting things but they are best off ignored, the majority of people understand what a great person she was.
