I spoke with Cliff about this. The BBC twice tried to contact Dermo but he didn't check emails so they went for Cliff.
He had a load of beers on the train down, then in the Green Room before hand. Said he had a great laugh with Bradley Walsh (you see them shake hands at the end). You also see him go to walk off the wrong direction and finally he said when he was stood there, he farted and followed through....you can see him when turning he kinds of tugs at his trousers

They were a pretty terrible band, saw them live a couple of times and think they even had a fight among themselves on one occasion, but they seem like decent working class lads who had a laugh

The singles they released (shall we take a trip, moody places, Take 5) are bangers. My rising star was ok too, the album chicken rhythms wasn't really that good imo but they'll always be part of the madchester gang.

Shall we take a trip and Moody places is up there in the top 5 Madchester singles (being a double A side)
But I'm biased knowing Dermo lol

The thing is now, for me, he's completely fucked his already declining reputation forever.

I mean, I just cannot fathom for the life of me why he has done what he's done. I can only think he's phoned round a few musicians and they have fucked him off accordingly as he's damaged goods now.

He looks a mess, he sounds a mess and he's 200% sold out, something he vowed the roses would never do. (Maybe I'm thinking of the 1989 version of Ian Brown saying that)

Reni must be absolutely pissing his pants with laughter at this latest shitshow from brownie, whereas Mani and John Squire must be looking on with a heavy heart.
 
If only Brown and his band mates has put the same amount of energy into following up the Roses debut album as Brown has done going on about Covid vaccinations.

They might have been a great band.
