Jesus had plenty of opportunities. He just wasn't good enough to start every match.

While Pep did not see him as the answer......That is clearly not true,as he is proving now he has opportunity week in week out as opposed to a stop/start existence.His progress stagnated as a result.

I can see Alvarez in a similar role.

To me he looks the real deal but gets stuck too late into games where the shape and intensity has gone leaving him less chance to have an impact.

I thought that the club talked about that specific issue when he arrived? He's not had a break, so they were aware that they didn't want to push him too hard.

Still, I agree that he's behind others to start, and with the postponements we've not yet had to rotate - the two starts he's had (at Forest and in the Barca friendly) were the only weeks where we've had three games.

That's all going to change now, as it's 11 games in 39 days, so I expect we'll see much more of him.
