Whats everyone wearing to the 'Tories have Gone' Party?
Mr. Blobby t-shirt and a pair of swimming togs.

The talk of Johnson returning is back again - thing is he is a greedy needy **** and he just earned in one day what he earned as PM by giving a speech - can't see him giving that up - especially not now the Tories have imploded
BJ is a hot commodity for the tory members. But on the basis they just elected a total moron to be PM it is very unlikely they are going to be given the opportunity to have another go.

BJ was not liked by the MPs. He is not a natutral ERG loony. They know he just used brexit to get the top job. He is not a radical right winger - he just manages the government week to week trying to avoid bad PR wile allowing maximum vested interests and favours to donors. He would not expend political capital to lurch to the right, far better used to get his mates into the HoL.

But even though he was moderate in terms of most policy - he was a shameless liar and self promoter and for that reason even the pro brexit moderate ranks were very cautious. There were very few tears shed by his demise. They just knew his position with members and none wanted to be seen to be part of the anti Johnson camp - the reality was there were very few committed pro Johnson people.

And a lot of shit about him and his time as PM is about to hit the fan

Indeed. But even without that. The resignation letters written in his final days are damning. I cant see how he can stand in an election again with that record behind him. Basically the majority of his own team calling him unfit for office.

I’m hearing the same people who supported truss out in the shires, now phoning radio stations demanding the return of Alexander depfeffel.
It matters not a tittle nor a jot to these people what happens to mortgage rates, fuel prices or hungry children, they will fly in the face of their own parliamentary party, just - as they see it- in a desperate attempt to stop a Starmer government. Tory government survival before Britain’s interests at any cost.
A truss alienated from her own back-benchers or a Johnson alienated from his own back benchers.
What a choice!
Maybe a GE instead?

Times reporting…

‘Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng to announce mini-budget u-turn *today*. They are meeting shortly after chancellor flies back from Washington. Plans to freeze corporation tax will be reversed - it will rise next year

PM statement expected later’

So, there is either going to be an enormous U-turn today, or the markets could get incredibly jittery. The Chancellor cutting short his visit to Washington suggests something will happen, but given how this Government has acted so far, it’s more likely they’ll tinker and march on rather than about face
I'm intrigued what the timing of the press conference will be. I'm going for just before the stock exchange closes hoping it doesn't fuck anything up and they have 2 days to cross their fingers.

Also they are ignoring parliament again.

A major statement like an alleged budget U - Turn should be made in parliament and questioned by the members.

I honestly think they'll bluff and stick to their plan whilst gaslighting everyone it's Putin/Labours/international markets/Media etc.

I think if it is before 16:30 it will be announcing something that they hope will boost the markets before close and give themselves a boost over the weekend. Anything later…

Sounds plausible. They can take credit over the weekend. Come Monday morning....

BBC announcing Truss making the announcement. Kwartang won't be there...
