Liz Truss

They are not fall guys. These people were and are the architects of Brexit (she’s just unprincipled enough to have ridden the wave), and the economic travesty befalling the country is largely of their own making. It’s the elephant in the room but because people can’t afford to turn the lights on, it continues to go unnoticed.
That’s what I was trying to say I do think they are playing this drama out because of the mistakes they have made, Brexit being the first of many.

She might as well not be there now, thing is the Tories don't know what to do with her.
Absolutely right.
If a charisma free politician wants to be defined by her beliefs, intentions and policies, and then is stripped of said attributes and her abilities to implement them, then she serves no purpose whatsoever for her party, and in fact her presence in government is detrimental and dangerous to the well-being of this country, economically and politically.
Why is she still in no.10?
Is it because of the paralysis affecting the tories who have painted themselves into a very small corner?

Support for the Government has simply collapsed in all key constituencies: the Red Wall, the Blue Wall and inside the boundaries of the old London Wall that once encircled the City of London too.

Its quite remarkable how they did so much damage in such a short space of time isn't it?

I have seen people say that she has destroyed the Tories but I'd say not true. They were done by Farage - from the point where Brexit gained traction thanks to press and TV lionising a man who himself and his party could not even get elected as a Westminster MP. That was when the Tories got rattled and Call Me Dave fucked everything up with his referendum. From then on chancers like Johnson came along and latched on - the Turton St trained SPAD's got Govt policy framed in such a way that everything was seen through the prism of Brexit - ensured all the moderate voices were exiled and enabled a load of Brexity former UKIPPER's got seats and the ERG ranks were boosted. In their own minds they had the plant they knew what to do best and Truss and Kwarteng were merely the topping off of the entire project. By then the damage had already been done to their Party but they were too high on their own supply to admit Brexit is a farce that Johnson was a buffoon and Truss and Kwarteng were just puppets.

Unfortunately for them their who fantasy world then went wrong. The reason? Because it met the real world. They have spent the last 12 years and certainly the last 6 just telling us untruths and denying the downsides of everything they want. They assumed the world would behave in the same way. However the markets just didn't believe the lies the IMF wouldn't do what they told them to do and even their friendly client journalists could no longer gloss over inflation, rising mortgage costs etc etc and with remarkable speed that was it.

If they are splattered in a GE then they could be done for quite a while but I doubt we could be lucky enough for that to be a permanent ending of them.

I personally think a lot of them knew exactly what was going to happen over the past month or so and have made an absolute fortune on the back of it whilst the rest of us have sat wondering what the hell we do to get through it all.

I think you’re absolutely correct. Meanwhile I’ve lost a small fortune thanks to markets crashing, and I never thought I’d have to worry about my DB pension particularly as we were told it was fully funded recently for the first time in years. Thankfully I’m in a position where I don’t need to sell any equities and with luck they’ll be back up eventually.

they will , but she needs to be gone whilst we still have a country to save . we need to give the next PM , be it red or blue, a fighting chance .

I was skint before it so nothings really changed for me lol.

Ben Wallace didn't want to run for leader last time for "reasons" - anybody know what those reasons might be ?

Suspect that it might be that he’s in a job he actually enjoys and is doing it at a time when that position needs someone who has a clue what they’re doing. It also helps to be in a department where the money is flowing in rather than trickling in, albeit that might be about to change. He comes from a soldiering family, served in the Scots Guards, and, unlike his boss, is probably aware of his limitations.

If he is aware of his own limitations WTF is he doing in politics lol

Whatever anyones political persuasion we should all hold the same ambition and vision which is for this country and all its citizens to have the opportunity to prosper. Now that might sound ideological but if you can’t start with an ambition what hope is there. What I see now is a divided, broken country which should be one of the best places to live in the world. Sadly the reality is very different and we are heading for the abyss under Truss. I’ve been a Conservative voter all my life but the current incumbents aren’t fit to lead. Reform and stability is desperately needed. Those calling for a Labour government I fear would be just as disappointed with the likes of Rayner, Abbott et al let loose to try and sort this shit out.

Get in the bin.

Labour would be 10x the government compared to this shower.

Very good. He's an unusual case in that he's one of those rare Conservatives who has also served as an MSP at Holyrood. His background is actually remarkably similar to that of Iain Duncan Smith, so maybe his time is yet to come.

Three PMs into the current govt and it's not really clear what the manifesto or mandate is anymore. They should have to have a GE now really. It's a shame as her last act her majesty didn't send them packing from Balmoral to do just that rather than form a government

Clearly you haven’t read my entire post. Not once did I or would I defend the current government but just saying a Labour Government would be 10 times better with no foundation is laughable. The way they left the country after their last term would suggest they are no more competent or capable.

How they left the country 12 years ago isn’t relevant to now though.

It‘s in a much worse state now that it was then anyway.
