Rishi Sunak

He has handed Starmer an open goal for tomorrow. Starmer brings up Braverman's resignation and reinstatement and her sharing documents she couldn't with all and sundry and as for an inquiry.

Sunak cannot back her behaviour but he can hardly sack her a day after reinstating her so already boxed in.
What Starmer should be asking is why she was working on a none-governmental supported system for official business, especially on such a sensitive issue.

Certainly seems that there’s more to this and who knows who else she sent it to, without the security of governmental servers.

Least worst Tory option I suppose, but the cabinet choices suggest a pretty nasty rw govt with sunak as centrist window dressing for austerity v2

Labour really need to go after her, the ammunition is there, pull the trigger.

Im not sure where it’s come from that he isn’t, but Sunak has always been to the right of the party, he’s definitely not centrist.
Indeed. It's gone under the radar that the furlough scheme was actually replacing rich people's luxury spending rather than middle/ working class wages. I'm really concerned that when starmer gets in in two years he'll be left with such a mess that he'll fail and it will open the door to facism like 30's Germany. Hopefully I'm wrong/mad etc.

I was briefly relieved to have him as a 'normal' Tory target who would do the usual Tory cutting the public sector shit. But then he rehires Braverman who might just be the single most abhorrent person who's held high office in this country.

They need gone, we need an election and we need to march on the streets to make it happen

You might get some biters with the last sentence.

But the banks (or some banks) didn’t do those basic checks? Is that what you’re saying?
Government policy. As the National Audit Office says, "To achieve the policy intention of supporting small businesses quickly during the pandemic, the government prioritised payment speed over almost all other aspects of value for money. The Scheme facilitated faster lending by removing credit and affordability checks and allowing businesses to self-certify their application documents. As the Scheme progressed, it continued to rely on businesses self-certifying their application details, even as the urgent need for finance reduced. Government ruled out options for additional upfront counter-fraud measures when the Scheme was extended. The impact of prioritising speed is apparent in the high levels of estimated fraud. Counter-fraud activity was implemented too slowly to prevent fraud effectively and the Department’s focus is now on detection and recovery of fraudulent loans."

TBH I think they will go to the country once they realise they have fucked it completely and have too little time to haul it back. Then campaign to minimise losses and blame all the following shite on Labour anyway.
