Terrorist attack on asylum centre

Maybe if ... the lake district, north wales, cornwall, east anglia, peak district, home counties, most of north yorkshire.. you get the drift.. if these bastions of english whiteness pulled their weight and helped the northern/midlands industrial towns and cities out...by taking their fair share of immigrants, then and only then would integration happen across the country, but, it's always the poor areas that get poorer and more crowded - integration? all for it, 100% it's the ones who complain who aren’t.

That's the problem with the SE Kent. Cliftonville in thanet is like a ghetto, and other parts arent great.

It's a very strange place thanet we have large amounts of DFL's who think we all love art and arty things. Than we have ghettos where it's more or less non British area and 'locals' wont go out after dark. Than high unemployment, high pvt rent, no council house, than the drinkers hanging around towns, and high homelessness. The towns smell of dope,

Manston is a powder keg.

Things need to change here quickly we are becoming over run.

So where and when does that end? Is there any limit at all? Open Borders or a Welfare State -which is it? You can’t sustain both -which is sort of where we are now with our creaking system falling apart as it is.

I was at UKC in the 80’s and about as welcome in Kent as a fart in an Astronauts Suit back then but have a lot of sympathy with those from the SE Coast who’ve seen nothing like this since the days of the Barbary Pirates and the Cinque Port days.

539 migrants crossed the channel in 2018.

1,900 in 2019.

So far this year that number is at 39,430.
What's the reason for that though?

And does 'crossed the channel' refer just to people in boats, or does it include people who crossed in lorries, etc? Has there actually been an increase in people claiming asylum, or just in one particular method of entering the country?

I’m saying the muppets on here going on about right wing and Daily mail shit, usually don’t have ghettos in their manor - if you catch my drift, there is only a finite amount of space, one of the most overcrowded countries in the world person per square mile - but if were going to take in everyone - fair enough! then every area in the country must shoulder the burden as well on their infrastructures -NOT just the north/midlands areas.

Someone I was speaking to the other day said he went to A&E in margate the other week. He said he waited for over 4 hours and his words ' he was the only English speaker waiting'

Manston is a disgrace

That sounds fun

I agree. It’s becoming very frustrating. I think large sections of society are getting pissed off with it now.

Most people want to help genuine refugees and people in need, but lots of these people clearly aren’t refugees and are abusing our broken system. Thousands of Albanian males who have no right to refugee status at all highlighting that.
That's certainly true, but the reality is that the government want to make it as difficult as possible to claim asylum because they know that most people who apply do so because they're entitled to it. This is from the government's own figures:

And that's before you take appeals into account. Even 46% of Albanians are granted asylum, so presumably there's a case to be heard there.

We are scared to discuss this problem for fear of being called a racist.

The local paper hear theisleofthanetnews.com has a comment section after ever local story apart from any immigrants stories.
That's because racists are attracted to that sort of story and news websites don't want to give a platform to them. No different to how women's football articles attract sexist wankers so they close the comments on those too.

But you can have the opinion there needs to be a solution to this migrant crisis and that it cannot continue and not be a racist.

Just as you can think the coverage of women’s football in this country is far too high given their level, at the detriment to the football league, and not be sexist.

Good questions and I don’t know all the answers to that, I believe those figures are purely channel crossings via boats.

There’s a big increase since 2019 of young Albanian men coming, that’s according to the BBC not Daily Express for those wondering.

I’ve learned a bit about modern slavery recently and there’s a huge underground of illegal cheap work too, I think these people are promised that and the industry is growing.

Of course migrants from Afghanistan, genuine refugees, has increased too, around 2 in every 10 migrant in a boat is from Afghan.

I assumed it was something beginning with B related.

France don’t need to control their migration now we aren’t in some sort of Union in Europe.

It’s straying off topic, but I think that view is inherently sexist, tbh.

You can. But if you own a newspaper and have to moderate the comments section, then it's not worth your time.

The reason I ask is because it's common for outlets to post figures about a particular type of channel crossing in isolation, creating an impression that the increase is far greater than it is. From what I've heard, there was a huge crackdown on certain types of crossing and increases in security around cargo lorries, pushing people towards using these boats instead.

But according to this, there has been an overall increase too...

First one is applications.

Second one is successful applications.

But yeah, the increase from hundreds to tens of thousands is just in one particular method of channel crossing by the looks of things.

You’re welcome to think that but it isn’t.

I’ve been sat at home watching Sky Sports most of today whilst the weather has been shit, the Championship coverage, advertising and talking points have nearly vanished.

SSN showed a few controversial decisions from the football league but that was it.

The WSL had highlights from most games and punditry.

The Championship is one of the best leagues in the world and the WSL just isn’t, regardless of the genders that are playing.

The football league has needed more coverage for years, and now it has less.
