Taken from an Interview with someone who has worked For the Border Force for 15yrs.

“Border Force is simply running a collection service in the English Channel, bringing migrants safely ashore to the overcrowded Manston migrant processing centre in Kent.
Some 12,000 of those who have crossed the Channel this year are from Albania — a country which wants to join the EU — up from just 50 in 2020. All but 2,000 of them were young men.
Border Force’s Dan O’Mahoney said recently that the figure represents up to two per cent of Albania’s male population aged 18 to 40.
O’Mahoney admitted that a huge number were “deliberately gaming the system”.
Albanians have learned they can remain in the UK by using the Modern Slavery Act, introduced by then Home Secretary Theresa May in 2015”

His answer to the problem is…..

“Hire a non British-flagged liner and position it in a part of the English Channel, which is international waters. Instead of taking migrants ashore at Dover they would be taken to the liner, which would have decent facilities. And — not having set foot in Britain — they would be unable to claim asylum. You then process them and find out who they are”

Even if what he says fit through a legal loophole, it doesn't, the UK would be in effective control of the ship. It is bloody stupid and amounts to international terrorism.

These cranks are happy to debase and degrade our own laws and living conditions so they can "win" against the "hordes of invaders". Disgusting people.

Of course you are aware that most of them are legitimate asylum seekers and are therefore not crossing illegaly.
Or are you?

Nothing can be done given current Govt policy. The crossings are not illegal, we cannot send them back to France, we are legally obliged to hear and process their asylum claims. Most claims are accepted.

From the refugee perspective the channel crossing is a risk they take to have their applications heard and the chances of that application being successful are very high. This reasoning means the numbers will keep increasing.

Most claims are accepted because of the shear fact that they're here after crossing. If we put up a border post in France then it'll become different as those people are not here and so their case weakens.... So either way as it stands they'd still attempt the crossing regardless.

Other countries in Europe take people according to arrivals and that's dominated completely by Germany. The reason for that though is anyone can literally walk into Germany and claim asylum. The issue here is unlike elsewhere there are 30 miles of water between the UK and continental Europe.

We could make it easier for cases to be accepted if you're not in the country, for example in Calais but what criteria do you attach to that and who is going to pay for and control everything for processing because the French certainly won't?

If someone turns up to a UK border post in Calais with no passport, no background and we have no idea who they are then do you just accept their word and provide housing, food, healthcare and transport to the UK? The fact you cannot reject or send these type of people back once here is why they make the crossing.
