New Germany Supporters' Club

I’m sure there will be plenty of City fans in Berlin for the Leipzig game, what would be great is if you could advise us if there is a way of getting back to Berlin after the game.

Unfortunately, doesn't look like it. From the Deutsche Bahn planner, there are no trains at present showing after the game, unless you want to leave at 11.30pm, change 3 times and arrive at 5am.... (Usually it's direct and just over an hour.) No idea if they are likely to put on a special train (would seem sensible as there must be a lot travelling from Berlin), but for now staying over is probably the only option.

Do you support German teams as well, if so which one. I believe Union Berlin will be playing on the Thursday night following our Leipzig game.

I don't personally but think some of the guys on this thread follow one or other of the Berlin clubs. Might be worth asking @foratzo17 if you were trying to get a ticket for the Union game?

City fans in Germany: If you're looking for a MCFC Supporters' Club here (or, like me, wondering why there isn't one already), please join our new Official Branch :) Or share with your German pals...

Link to join is below, we are based in Berlin (although to date the only branch in the whole of Germany, so would welcome fans from any region). And, of course, if you are in Berlin and want to join our get-togethers to watch the next game in the pub, drop me or @foratzo17 a message to know when and where.

Best of luck!

My brother in law lives in Prenzlau berg….and we pop over from Ireland now and again….if you meet in an Irish Bar I may just drop yous a line!!

You'd be welcome We found a blue from Puerto Rico in the bar on Tuesday night (don't think he's on here though) - seems like it's becoming a hot spot here...!

Enjoyed this you tube blog on the history and football teams of Berlin . Well worth a watch .

Only just got round to watching this & a top video to share. Aside from the Hertha Berlin & Union Berlin 'rivalry' there was a short, but comprehensive summary of both Berlin & Germany's notorious history.

In my opinion seems like the infamous wall inadvertently ended up serving as some sort of social experiment. i.e. the government decides to build a divide between a population of people largely from the same background, race & religion. Some 28yrs later the wall comes down with the same people now distrusting & anxious of each other which according to this football video still exists to some extent today. Of course all these preconceptions were heightened by the government propaganda set at the time.

Didn't fully appreciate the city as much as I should have went I visited a number of yrs ago mainly down to it being a stag-do trip. Quite surprisingly the raw history is still very much present within the city, with old watch towers & crumbling sections of the wall dotted around.

Also fully agree with the contributors of the video, Berliners know how to party. Us lot were leaving the bars & clubs at around 3am & all the locals were just about to stream in!

Will be staying near Spittelmarkt, 31st Dec -3rd Jan. Will join you if City are playing. Good luck with growing the Branch.

Hey up. I’m thinking ahead to the derby and wondering if there’s a bar in Berlin you regularly watch at? Would be nice to be with some fellow blues @berlinblue
Would be great if you can join us! We are normally at Belushi's Mitte - Not every game but we'll be there for the Derby tomorrow.

Glad you enjoyed the video Hammersmithlad ! I was lucky enough to spend 6 months working in the city back in 94 and loved the place . Great city to visit . Especially for a WW2 history buff like me . As you observed , one of things we did notice while there was no one goes out till 3am !

When your over for a game remember to stay in Stockport, the "new Berlin" as named by DJ Luke Unabomber. Stockport is known as one of the coolest places to live in the UK. The town is frequently named in trendy ‘best place to live’ guides following a huge regeneration.

I was in Berlin during the opening weekend of the season and went to both Belushi's (Mitte & Alexanderplatz).

I went to Mitte thinking that was the local MCFC supporters club bar. In honesty it was nowhere near as good as the Belushi's near Alexanderplatz where I watched the murderers vs Ipswich the day before. It was about half the size, food not as good, and not a city shirt/flag in sight anyway!

FWIW, the website shows both bars showing the game.
