Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

Diverting attention away from post match/pre world cup breakdown... Is Ivan Toney a good player or just played out of his skin today. I thought he was a consistent threat. Especially that volley he hit out of nowhere. So many chances...

I actually though he was ordinary today and that showed just how poor our back line was.

Our CB's don't like it up them, not the bravest, Dias apart.

Bad day at the office. We’ve had them in the past usually versus Crystal Palace and will have them again. Sometimes I think Pep makes too many changes and could use subs more but look at what we have won.

We’ve lost 2 games out of 21 ( I think) this season so we are well set. Our team v Fulham weren’t thinking of the World Cup. Perhaps today was an off day.

Now we have to hope that our squad is not too effected by this stupid World Cup.

Decent every time I have seen him. Then again Callum Wilson has been decent too.

Akanji didn't need protection from the midfield, it was by-passed with the long ball.

His job was to win his aerial battles and he lost every one.
I think he is an absolutely outstanding 4th or 5th CB for us..... not in the same class as Dias which make todays decision staggering.
Rodri slowed everything down today as well. It's tough to blame one player but we'd have played so much better with someone else (Phillips - too early probably today, Bernie, Gunda in that position) Rodri is a great player but slows us down big time in games like this today. They bypassed the midfield so a CDM wasn't needed at all really
Well played Eddie. Might have shut some idiots up for a while - maybe not though
Erling terrible! I recon he can be excused a game or two though. Nice break for him coming at the right time
And for the Grealish haters - we wouldn't have got countered half as much today if he'd have played so would have probably not lost. That's why he plays. He keeps possession. There's no point arguing with people who don't really understand the tactics of football on that though. All they're interested is Goals, assists. now, now, NOW
Anyway, we'll be fine. Can anyone really think Arsenal will be strong enough mentally when it gets serious. They'll defo bottle it. We could do with a full back mind you. Gomez and Rico not ready yet. Hopefully Walker comes back from the WC fit

We are living in crazy times for sure.
No one is saying sell him, but it seems he is immune from criticism, a defender makes a mistake and it leads to a goal they are slaughtered and it is deemed their job, de bruyne lost out to a challenge that led to the winner, again its all on the defenders, one person slating akanji said it is his job to win headers so akanjo gets slated, I point out its haalands job to score goals and he didn't today, but no blame on him, a the blame seeks to fall on the defenders

It’s our best points tally to start a season since 2018, it’s not our best level of performances to start a season since 2018.

We’ve been remarkably average for our standards despite accumulating a decent points tally.
We've been fortunate in the fact that we've only played two of the traditional big six so far

Hats off to Brentford. They were definately better than us on the day and Tonie should have been be going to the WC. They were brave with their tactics and it paid off. We have no divine right to win every match. It just wasnt our day today. But before our rivals get giddy they should know the the PL is won in May not November.

Still think many our issues are due to our on-going FB problems.
Stones isn't an outlet for attacking play at RB but even in the dying minutes they still laid the ball out wide to him, which was pretty infuriating tbh
