Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

It's getting colder in Florida....
Last night was the first night I slept without the fan on next to me...... the AC is still on, of course..... just didn't need the fan on too....
We were in Florida five years to the day with my Grandaughters. It was bloody scorchio the whole time we were there. I’ll bet the air conditioning costs about as much as heating though!

If you have one (or more) of those AC units you stick in the window then yes, but I have (no idea the official name) a cooler system which provides cool air via vents in each room. 2 bed mobile home, in summer it's about $100 a month. Spring and autumn around $70 to $80

Being stingy with the heating but having the log/coal fire on most nights.
When we moved we inherited enough wood to see us through 2 winters possibly, plus ive become a skip dipper and regularly bring pallets home etc

Anyone else have a garden office/log cabin?

I have quite a big one and we have one little radiator. Is there a more economical way of heating?

My sister has one, she uses a calor gas heater and says it’s cheaper. Heats the place up really quick apparently

Couple of hours in the morning and the evening. Might need to start it a little earlier as we go into winter.

No heating yet. I did test it a few times over the last few weeks to make sure it works.
We have new double glazing, insulated loft and walls.
We also have five people in the house, so what's that 60 watts per person?

However, i have noticed the house has never dropped below 18C overnight. During the day it seems to raise it's self to 20C+. (Hive app data)
We recently had the house rendered. It was for cosmetic reasons only.
But it seem to have had a positive effect on the heat retention.
I didn't think an inch of render was going to make much difference. But i do think the fact it waterproofs the walls does.
Since the bricks are no longer getting wet, there is no heat sapping evaporation going on.
