Trying to see the positives from this aside from bringing on Henderson to protect a 0-0 against a team of players that would be like an FA cup prem team against lower league?

We get through against teams not as good as what's to come. Then we've got Foden type players fresh to do the damage against these teams in the later stages?

To see Phil sitting there on the sub's bench while the consistently ineffective Henderson strolled about, waving his arms, shouting, and making sideways passes was enough to convince me that Southgate has some kind of vendetta against our man. What, and why, we'll probably never know: but nothing else explains the Waistcoat's apparent reluctance to put him on the pitch and let him do his thing.

GS is ultimately a coward so he will bow to pressure and use Phil on Tuesday……but maybe only as sub the last 20 mins, so that when he doesn’t score everyone will see GS was right and we were all wrong………

Phil should be given the opportunity to light up this world cup like Mbappe is doing. Who knows what the future brings it might be his only opportunity.

If I was Foden I'd be telling the waistcoat that my back was abit tight and I'm not fit to play. Southgate has made his bed with the likes of Mount and Sterling let him lie in it!
 
The problem with the clamour to start Phil is it puts unnecessary pressure on him. A shit underperforming England display and everyone expects Phil to come in and transform them into world beaters. That's if he's even picked of course.
 
I hope they’re heading home Wednesday. Give a couple of important players a bit of a rest before we go on a run…
 
imagine thinking Foden is your 5th choice attacker?
imagine putting sterling in front of foden when sterling was basically pushed out of the club because of loosing his place to foden?
imagine leaving foden on the bench and bringing on Henderson?
imagine someone doubting Foden's ability to play in central positions?

what must pep be thinking of Southgate? Such a talented squad we have packed with attacking depth any national team would be proud of, and he's wasting the teams opportunity through cautiousness, loyalty to out of form players, and poor in match tactics. looking at how other teams are playing we should be confident of getting to the semi final/final if he had the balls to play to our strengths.
