I’m enjoying it because I enjoy watching football, don’t you enjoy watching football?

It‘s OK if you watch it in a superficial sense but when you work it that such a small nation, with no real tradition of football, no infrastructure, and following a vote that even the head of FIFA at the time said was wrong, then you have to question what you are watching.

Enjoy the games, why not. Me, It all seems false.

Politics aand religion should have absolutely nothing to do with sport or the people who want to enjoy it , countries should adapt so everyone is welcome , if they cannot do that , they should not hold prestigious competitions.

Without getting into your rhetoric, I will say that I am the 100% national football supporter, I want England to win everything and watch any game that I can. This WC has been very different and I can’t be arsed.

82 and 86 were rubbish too. A host of rule changes, particularly iro foul play, but also backpass etc, became a necessity. The '94 WC was utterly dire for anyone who saw it as an adult.

What about the massive footballing nation of USA? Or the huge country of Japan? Both of those have held World Cups, so did they feel ‘false’ too?

Wold cup 94 was class for so many reasons. So many characters, great games etc final was shit but most are.

As I've said before. The 90s comps were fantastic and everything since has been shite.

It's really extraordinary that anyone remembers the '94 WC in particular as anything other than dreadful. It did serve a purpose in eventually persuading the governing bodies that fundamental rule changes were required to protect the game.

USA has a massive Hispanic population that love football. Japan have a decent domestic league. Both places filled stadiums with genuine fans. Qatar has zero football culture and when this is over it will go back to having zero football culture. Russia was a shit location but at least they like football.
