SAS Rogue Heroes

Binge watched it was waiting for episode 7 but there was only 6! Is there going to be another series.

I’ve read the book (and I’m not a reader at all) and watched the documentary. Both very good.

I’ve not watched the dramatised series yet. I was hoping it was going to be like Band of Brothers and The Pacific. I take it it’s not?

Late to this but caught up with it over the last few days. Luckily didn't read this thread beforehand as it may have had me looking at it differently.
As a series, not to be taken as 100% truth, I thought it was decent and enjoyed it. Is there a second series planned?

If you watch the documentary series as quoted above, it seems certain there will be a second series

Which dessert are you referring to? The are plenty of them to choose from.
Very true, but the Libyan desert and the Sahara desert can be really cold in the winter, sometimes you get snow believe it or not. The SAS operated over many areas of North Africa during the war. You have to experience the desert winter to know it though. - or so I'm told.

Dramatised shite glorifying a horrid war. BBC trying to give WW2 the Peaky Blinders make over.

So another 6,
Stirling gets taken as a pow and ends up in Colditz until 1945.
Mayne takes over and has a distinguished war leading them through Sicily, Italy,France and Germany earning 3 DSO’s.
The end.

watched the first couple, enjoyed them, wouldn't look to a BBC (or any other) entertainment programme for historical accuracy

What a let down and a missed opportunity this was!

Watched it over Christmas and had high hopes, already knowing this brilliant story. But it was like watching a WWE-made entertainment version of these historic events, rather than a serious historical drama. The constant over-the-top shouty-anger was nearly as tiresome as the heavy rock music that was constantly blaring away.

Real hard men don’t bounce around shouting at the top of their voices about how hard they are, especially SAS types. And it was 1941 and ’42 there was no such fucking thing as heavy rock, this soundtrack was so out of place.

In both cases it’s the same things that let Peaky Blinders down; ‘BY ORDAH OF THE PEAKY FUCKIN BLOINDAHS’… FUCK OFF!

Band of Brothers is my favourite ever TV series. Two decades on I still talk about it and I probably watch it every three years or so and will continue to return to it in the future. SAS Rogue Heroes will be forgotten about in two decades’ time and I won’t be repeat watching it. I’ll still probably watch Series 2 and 3 if they make them because the story is so good and there’s still the end of the African campaign, Italy and Germany to come in this story… but what a let down! Even The Pacific, which wasn’t as good as BoB but is still in my Top10 all-time series, shits all over this.

I wish Hanks and Spielberg had got hold of this story. At least they’ve got Masters of the Air coming out soon.

I didn't watch it because all the adverts made it look like some glorified rock video. Glad I didn't bother wasting the time trying it out.

I'm with you that Band of Brothers is the best series ever made. Some have come close, but I don't think anything will ever beat it.
