Where do you get the wood from mate ? Prices have rocketedI am quite lucky as I don't really feel the cold. Happily sit around with no heating on. Only switch on for the family when they get in. Off when the kids in bed.
However, it is getting colder and whilst I am fine, must think of others. Affording it isn't the problem, we both agree fuck lining the pockets of the energy companies. We do have a log burner we put on in the evening at weekends. So far in the last month we have spent about £50 on wood and kindling, but still have a couple of weekends worth left.
Or DD goes out on the 12th and so far spent £91 since 12th Nov. Minus the £66 and that's not bad at all. Will use more next month as off for 3 weeks over Christmas, but I simply will not turn the heating on if I am in on my own. Train twice a day during this period and that warms me up for ages. Quick shower after each session and all sorted.
I really do feel for those struggling. It must be unbearable.
Don’t turn the boiler thermostat down or let your house get so cold , takes a lot more to warm it up then keeping it at a constant temperature
I wasn’t aware that insulation heated newbuilds…Anyone in a new build? What is your average temp when your heating is off curious to see how good the new insulation regs are.

a disgrace too.................I bet polticians arent cold.Yes we had to both sick of trying to save money so have it on. The first day went mad it was on all day but have settled down now to a more balanced timed one hour in the morning and one at night.

No that’s the real reason we left the EU. So energy companies could charge what they liked profits would not be reigned in.

I’m in a old house (1968) with zero insulation in the roof, we started out at putting heating on at 20, we dropped it down to 19, the other day it was on for 12 hours and it cost us around £7.50 with standing charge, we are now having it at 18 degrees which is fine and costing us around £5.50 a day again on for 12 hours. 18 seems a little chilly at night but a blanket on watching tv is fine.What temperature are people reaching in their house with it on?
Had it on most of the weekend through the day and didn't get past 17.5.
Was warm enough when it had been like 14 before we decided we'd had enough of sat in the cold.

Size of house, temperature, I don’t know mate, my wife’s friend spent £225 last week on gas and electric!! She has a big house, 3 kids and seemingly a lot of money (I think her husband is well dodgy). Why so much discrepancies?
Turning down a degree saving 2 pounds is really interesting.
