Hobbies for the middle aged man

Not so much middle aged, I'm a little older than that, but I'm enjoying my retirement and riding my sportsbike around, having walks in the countryside.

Acceleration never gets boring, and neither do the songbirds in spring.

Middle age is shit. You're still working.

Life begins at 62. Well, it did for me when I stuck two fingers up to the corporate bullshit of the modern world and left it all behind.

I'm one of the missing millions. Suck it up Rishi, because there aint no way I'm going back to it, no matter how feeble your incentives are.
 
Got a few years before I hit middle age, but I started sewing recently. Very early days but over time I hope to make my own clothes, bedding and things around the house.

Good for you pal.
If there is one piece of advice I'd give young and middle aged people it's save for your retirement.
You don't wanna be skint.
I know a few who are.

My hobby.....Travel the world if it appeals, you need money for that, but it's so rewarding.

My dad loves it but age stops
him now,he's found loads of stuff over the last 40 years.

Im Late 40s and have 2 little ones so i dont have to worry just yet about filling my time, though i was thinking the other day that i need a hobby/interest.
If what has been suggested up to now is all thats on offer then fuck that, im jumping off the seven arches before it comes to it ;)

Changed for more suggestions..weird shit welcome but not creepy!..astronomy could be an option when it's not pissing down..
 
Watch tinkering. Buy non runners on ebay for a few pounds and service them. The long winter evenings pass a bit quicker.

I don't know, some people will find any excuse not to be active.

It's because the **** won't go outdoors. plenty of good hobbies if your up for leaving the house. I'm sure you will be with a wife and two kids.

Yeah i partly jest. The one thing ive struggled to replace is playing footy. I stopped playing at a reasonably high level 4/5 years ago and ive never replaced that. Vets just doesnt quite interest me for some reason.
And no other sport that im physically able to do can replace that team work, the physicality , the pints after.

My life is passed over to the kids for now but i know, as i have an older son, that the time flies and you arent needed in the same way.
Not one for sitting around the house so ive got 3/4 Years to come up with a hobby i like

It happens mate - staying fit and hangovers are hard to fit round the kids at weekends.

You may not like it but golf is the sport for a lot of ex footballers, we have a group of around 20 who play at Ashton GC, a good few who played at a decent level but now find the camaraderie, friendship and competitiveness of golf is a great way of passing a few hours two or three times a week. We have a couple of beers, a laugh and the banter, it’s brilliant for the mental health and you get to know some real characters and people from all walks of society. Two of our group are brothers, one is the ex CEO of the Greater Manchester Ambulance Trust, his sibling is a Binman, both great lads, the binman is the better golfer!

Most of my pals play but its more a physical thing why i cant. My job is pretty tough on the shoulders and i suffer with pulled shoulder muscles a lot. Im not sure swinging a club about will help.
Im always aware im missing out when they are playing as a group but with work i just cant see it every happening
